Behind every Retrokit Vespa, there isn’t just engineering: there are years of stubborn legal and bureaucratic battles. Back in 2019, Italian regulations allowed electric cars, but completely ignored electric motorcycles. Many called us crazy for investing everything into a law that didn’t even exist yet. It took three years of working closely with the Ministry of Transport, but we made it happen. We didn’t just build a kit; we helped create the actual Decree that made electric retrofitting legal for motorcycles in Italy.
Sometimes, to change the market, you have to change the law first.

Dietro ogni Vespa Retrokit non c’è solo ingegneria, ma anni di ostinate battaglie legali e burocratiche. Nel 2019 la legge italiana permetteva di omologare le auto elettriche, ma escludeva totalmente le moto. Molti ci dicevano che eravamo pazzi a investire tutto su una normativa che ancora non esisteva. Ci sono voluti tre anni di lavoro insieme al Ministero dei Trasporti, ma ce l’abbiamo fatta. Non abbiamo solo costruito un kit: abbiamo contribuito a creare il Decreto che ha reso legale il retrofit per le moto in Italia.
A volte, per cambiare il mercato, devi prima riuscire a cambiare la legge.
