Great news for band music enthusiasts: for the upcoming edition of the Flicorno d'Oro, the international wind band competition held in Riva del Garda, 𝗠𝗮𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗼 𝗝𝗮𝗻 𝗖𝗼𝗯𝗲𝗿 has been appointed 𝗣𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗝𝘂𝗿𝘆, returning once again to judge the bands competing in the various categories.

Cober is no stranger to the Riva audience: the Dutch composer and conductor has already chaired the Flicorno d'Oro jury in the past, leading a highly prestigious panel of judges. His return to the head of the jury is a strong sign of the continuity and prestige the competition has built over the years.

🎺 𝗙𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗼𝗿𝗻𝗼 𝗱’𝗢𝗿𝗼 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟳: 𝗶𝘁'𝘀 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻 𝘂𝗽!

The countdown has begun. 𝗙𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝟭𝟵 𝘁𝗼 𝟮𝟭 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟳, Riva del Garda once again becomes the capital of international brass and wind band music. Stage, audience, international jury: everything is ready to welcome the best bands from Europe and beyond.

And that's not all.
🎓 𝗙𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗼𝗿𝗻𝗼 𝗘𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 will return alongside the competition: a dedicated educational project for young and very young musicians from European wind bands, created to inspire learning, exchange and musical growth in an international environment.

🎺 𝗗𝗼 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗸𝗻𝗼𝘄 𝘄𝗵𝘆 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗲𝘁𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝗻 𝗥𝗶𝘃𝗮 𝗱𝗲𝗹 𝗚𝗮𝗿𝗱𝗮 𝗶𝘀 𝗰𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗱 𝗙𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗼𝗿𝗻𝗼 𝗱'𝗢𝗿𝗼?

The term flicorno does not refer to a single instrument, but to an entire family of brass instruments. Their distinctive tone has always been one of the most recognizable features of the traditional band sound, even though some of these instruments are no longer part of modern band instrumentation.

It is to this very musical tradition that the Flicorno d'Oro owes its name. When the competition was founded, the name Flicorno d'Oro was chosen as a tribute to this heritage: a symbol of the band tradition and of a unique musical legacy that continues to live on in concert bands around the world today. 🎶
