Gregorio Botta (Naples, 1953) is among the artists involved in the exhibition ‘La tempesta nel bicchiere’ curated by Saverio Verini.

The artist presents “Muta,” in which iron, glass and natural elements such as water and air are tools for practicing an art of ‘taking away’, hoping to arrive at an ‘art of nothing’.

Saverio Verini stated that: “water, in Botta, seems to me to call into question an almost liturgical dimension.” Botta’s works emanated a sacred aura: they are refuges, secluded places, spaces of concentration and recollection animated by a frugal solemnity.
“Muta” proposes the image of suspension, an inertia that - behind an enchanted levitation - underlies a subtle tension that defies the principles of physics.

We are happy to announce ‘La tempesta nel bicchiere’, group show curated by Saverio Verini featuring works by Mario Airò, Gregorio Botta, Daniele Di Girolamo, Beatrice Pediconi and Alberto Savinio.

Central element of the exhibition, water is not presented in its sublime character of an expanding, uncontainable and impetuous force, but in its “gentle” and circumscribable liquid aspect.

⏰ Opening Tuesday, May 6th, after 6pm

🌿 Volevo metterci il cielo
solo show by Alessandra Giovannoni with a text by Michele Tocca.

{…} Within the artist’s oeuvre, these green monochromes, paintings of foliage, are the first to hide the sky, pushing the artist’s gaze downwards, towards the city’s depths.

Giovannoni, after all, has always considered Rome her mentor. The city is not just a subject, it is a muse. Like a little goddess on her shoulder urging, guiding, and prodding her, Rome gives directions and spoils her, creates dreams and traps: their relationship is total, shaping and leading her into unusual territories, profoundly distinguished from the artists of her generation. {…}

‘Volevo metterci il cielo’, solo show by Alessandra Giovannoni with a text by Michele Tocca.

🔍🔍 It is during her explorations in mostly familiar areas that the spark ignites, the strange appears as small, wonderful epiphanies that arrest her gaze. If until now the ritual was always performed through a certain distance of which Giovannoni was a detached spectator-director (…) now the interest lies in proximity. The gaze lowers and approaches the subjects: the first is a plant, a tuft of daisies emerging from the crevice of a wall on the Lungotevere.

✨ Last Thursday we opened ‘Volevo metterci il cielo’, new solo show by Alessandra Giovannoni at the gallery.

{…} Urban weeds instead of Mediterranean pines, fountains instead of buildings, flat walls and sidewalks instead of linear perspectives. These are new motifs, but not entirely unexpected for the painter. For years they were secondary elements that appeared in some corner of a painting and served as compositional punctuations. In short, they are all terms of a lexicon that Giovannoni has thus far used to stage plots, architect scenes, and sketch extras. {…}

For Assolo #6 Alessandro Roma has intervened in the gallery with a site-specific intervention, revealing his aptitude for playing with space.

Two large black sheets, on which a luxuriant vegetation has been painted with the particular use of bleach, give new shapes to the central hall of the gallery, partially redesigning its spaces. The painted images are inspired by the artist’s recent visit to the Roman National Museum, in particular the frescoes of Villa Livia.

Our Story
