Paraguay - InterSale 2025 in Concepción: a true celebration of sport, fraternity and the Salesian spirit

Concepción, Paraguay - July 2025 - InterSale 2025 was held at the facilities of the San José Salesian Institute in Concepción from Thursday 10 to Saturday 12 July, involving students from several Salesian schools in the country. The event was held as part of the 125th anniversary of the Salesian presence in the city of Concepción, making it a true celebration of sport, fraternity and the Salesian spirit. During the days, young people competed in various sports such as handball, futsal, football, basketball and volleyball.

L'evento si è svolto nell'ambito del 125° anniversario della presenza salesiana nella città di Concepción, diventando una vera e propria celebrazione dello sport, della fraternità e dello spirito salesiano. Durante le giornate i giovani si sono sfidati in varie discipline sportive come pallamano, futsal, calcio, basket e pallavolo.

Guatemala – Leaders in the Salesian Youth Movement deepen their charismatic identity

Guatemala City, Guatemala - 2025 July – Enthusiastically and with fraternal spirit and a desire to grow in their vocation, 80 young leaders of the Salesian Youth Movement (SYM) took part in the Second Leaders' Meeting held on Saturday 12 July at the Salesian Interprovincial Theological Institute (ITSI). With the central question ‘What is the identity of the Salesian youth leader?’, the day offered a space for reflection, formation and dialogue that allowed participants to rediscover the profound meaning of their mission in the style of Don Bosco: to accompany, evangelise and educate young people with joy. One of the most significant moments of the meeting was the participatory workshop on the Salesian Leader Profile, which offered the opportunity to review and renew, personally and as a community, the commitment to Salesian youth ministry. This second meeting reaffirmed the importance of strengthening the charismatic identity of the SYM and of continuing to build together a youth ministry that is dynamic, joyful and in tune with the challenges of the present time. The gratitude and dedication of the participants testified to a youth leadership committed to the lives of young people most in need.

Guatemala – Gli Animatori del Movimento Giovanile Salesiano approfondiscono la loro identità carismatica

Città del Guatemala, Guatemala – 2025 luglio – Con entusiasmo, spirito fraterno e desiderio di crescere nella propria vocazione, 80 animatori del Movimento Giovanile Salesiano (MGS) hanno partecipato al Secondo Incontro degli Animatori che si è tenuto sabato 12 luglio presso l'Istituto Teologico Interispettoriale Salesiano (ITSI). Con la domanda centrale “Qual è l'identità dell'animatore giovanile salesiano?”, la giornata ha offerto uno spazio di riflessione, formazione e dialogo che ha permesso ai partecipanti di riscoprire il significato profondo della loro missione nello stile di Don Bosco: accompagnare, evangelizzare ed educare i giovani con gioia. Uno dei momenti più significativi dell'incontro è stato il laboratorio partecipativo sul Profilo dell'Animatore Salesiano, che ha offerto l'opportunità di rivedere e rinnovare, personalmente e come comunità, l'impegno nella pastorale giovanile salesiana. Questo secondo incontro ha riaffermato l'importanza di rafforzare l'identità carismatica del MGS e di continuare a costruire insieme una pastorale giovanile dinamica, gioiosa e in sintonia con le sfide del tempo presente. La gratitudine e la dedizione dei partecipanti testimoniano una leadership giovanile impegnata nella vita dei giovani più bisognosi.

India - Salesian Institution Empowers 400+ Students with Drone Tech Knowledge

Shillong, India - July 2025 – The Salesian Institution organized a workshop in the Smit area to equip 449 Class 9 and 10 students from seven schools with knowledge of drone technology and its advancements. Participating schools included Loreto Mary Ward School, St Francis De Sales Secondary School, Ibasara Secondary School, Mount Gerizim Secondary School, St Peter Secondary School, and Don Bosco Higher Secondary School. Inaugurating the event, Salesian Brother (Dr) Albert Longley Dkhar sdb, Principal of Don Bosco HSS, highlighted the importance of sparking curiosity among young minds, while Arun Kumar Sarma, Director General of NECTAR, delivered the keynote address, emphasizing the relevance of drone technology in shaping a technology-driven future. Designed to inspire innovation and discovery, the workshop provided students with hands-on experience and insights into potential STEM careers, reaffirming the institution's commitment to empowering the next generation of leaders in science and technology.

India - L'Istituzione salesiana fornisce a più di 400 studenti conoscenze tecniche sui droni

Shillong, India - 20 luglio 2025 – L'Istituzione salesiana ha organizzato un workshop nella “Smit area” per fornire a 449 studenti delle classi 9 e 10 di sette scuole conoscenze sulla tecnologia dei droni e sui suoi progressi. Belarus - Ceremony for the installation of Fr Viktor Hajdukevich as Provincial Delegate of the Salesian Delegation in Belarus

Minsk, Belarus - July 2025 - The installation of Fr Viktor Hajdukevich, SDB, as Provincial Delegate of the Salesian Delegation in Belarus took place on 14 July, in the Church of St John the Baptist in Minsk, during the solemn Holy Mass,. The Mass was attended by eminent representatives of the Church: the Metropolitan of Mahilou, Minsk, Archbishop Jozef Stanieuski and the Vicar General of the Archdiocese, Bishop Aliaksandr Yasheuski SDB, whose presence attested to the great respect for Salesian service in Belarus. The homily was delivered by the Superior of the Salesian Province of Warsaw, Poland (PLE), on which the Belarus Delegation depends, Fr Tadeusz Jarecki, SDB, in the presence of various Salesians, FMA, other members of the Salesian Family, and numerous faithful. Before the Mass began, those present were greeted by Fr Pavel Shcharbitski, SDB, who has been responsible for leading the Delegation for the past three years. During his homily, Fr Jarecki stressed that the installation of the new delegate is a clear sign of the vitality and fruitfulness of the work of St John Bosco in Belarus. The Salesians have been working in this land for over a century, and this celebration is not only a look back, but also an expression of hope for the future.

Italy - Reshaping Salesian Italy: a path of reform and shared responsibility

(ANS - Rome) - The process of reshaping Salesian Italy, begun over a year ago to respond to the demands of profound and lasting change, continues with determination. The project is not a simple organisational reorganisation, but a response to the call to renew the Salesian presence in Italy, aligning it with Don Bosco's mission and charism.

On the occasion of the CISI Presidency on 14 July, the Rector Major of the Salesians, Fr Fabio Attard, wished to take part in the working day together with the Superiors of the Italian provinces, led by the CISI President and Councillor for the Mediterranean Region, Fr Juan Carlos Pérez Godoy.

Italia – Ridisegno dell’Italia Salesiana: un percorso di riforma e corresponsabilità

Ecuador - ‘Notikcias Salesianas’: a communication proposal to inform and reach out to young people

(ANS - Quito) - On 11 July, the first ‘Notikcias Salesianas’ video was published on the Instagram and TikTok accounts of the Salesians in Ecuador. This new format, produced by the Salesian Office of Communication (OSC, in Spanish), was created with the aim of sharing the most important news from the Salesian province of Ecuador, in an agile and entertaining way.

The project stems from the need to get in touch with young people and to offer an audiovisual version of the ‘Noticiero Salesiano’, the digital magazine of the province, which will arouse interest in digital communities, allowing the good news of the Salesian mission in Ecuador to reach a wider audience.

USA - "Builders of Peace and Development: The Salesian Commitment in International Arenas"

(ANS – New York) - From July 14 to 25, 2025, the High-Level Political Forum is taking place at the United Nations Headquarters in New York. The Salesian Congregation, represented by Fr Rafael Bejarano, the General Councillor for Youth Ministry, Fr Mathew Thomas Panamkattu, the Representative of the Salesians of Don Bosco to the United Nations (UN), and a permanent team, is actively participating in this significant global event. This presence, supported by Salesian Missions of New Rochelle, highlights the Congregation’s commitment to global Advocacy, particularly in connecting its work with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Spain - The first Spanish Salesian Brother to become Rector of a Salesian community

(ANS - León) - José Manuel González Díez is the first Spanish Salesian Brother to become Rector of a Salesian community. This possibility has been open since this year, having been approved ‘ad experimentum’ for the next six years by the Salesian Congregation at its 29th General Chapter.

José Manuel González Díez signed the decree of his appointment as Rector during the celebration that took place in the Santiago el Mayor House in León. The Eucharist was presided over by the Vice-Provincial of SSM, Fr Samuel Segura. Also present at the altar were Fr Rafael Castro, outgoing Rector, and the priests who are members of the communities in León. Among those present were also representatives of the Educative and Pastoral Community (EPC) of the Santiago el Mayor house in León.

Spagna – Il primo salesiano coadiutore spagnolo Direttore di una comunità salesiana

(ANS – León) – José Manuel González Díez è il primo salesiano coadiutore spagnolo a diventare Direttore di una comunità salesiana. Una possibilità, questa, aperta da quest'anno, essendo stata approvata “ad experimentum” per i prossimi sei anni dalla Congregazione Salesiana nell’ambito del suo 29° Capitolo Generale.

José Manuel González Díez ha firmato il decreto della sua nomina a Direttore durante la celebrazione che ha avuto luogo nella Casa “Santiago el Mayor” di León. L’Eucaristia è stata presieduta dal Vicario Ispettoriale di SSM, don Samuel Segura. All'altare erano presenti anche don Rafael Castro, Direttore uscente, e i sacerdoti membri delle comunità di León. Tra i presenti c'erano inoltre i rappresentanti della Comunità Educativa Pastorale (CEP) della casa “Santiago el Mayor” di León.

Zambia - Salesian ZMB Provincial Assembly: A Journey of Renewal and Mission

(ANS - Lusaka) – The Salesian Province of Zambia, Malawi, Botswana, and Zimbabwe (ZMB) is hosting its Provincial Assembly at the Salesian Post-Novitiate in Lusaka, Zambia, from 16th to 18th July 2025. Led by Provincial Superior Fr. Michael Mbandama, with specil animation by Br. John Nuuguna of Kenya, the assembly focuses on addressing challenges and strengthening the Province’s mission.

Under the leadership of Provincial Superior Fr. Michael Mbandama, and with the enriching insights of Br. John Nuuguna from Kenya, the assembly dug deep into the realities of the Province’s pastoral and operational landscape. It provided a unique opportunity for confreres to not only assess the current state of affairs but also to reflect on their spiritual and vocational commitments.

Zambia - Assemblea Ispettoriale Salesiana ZMB: un cammino di rinnovamento e missione

(ANS - Lusaka) – La Visitatoria salesiana “Maria Ausiliatrice” di Zambia, Zimbabwe, Malawi e Botswana (ZMB) ospita in questi giorni la sua Assemblea Ispettoriale presso il Postnoviziato Salesiano di Lusaka. L’Assemblea, iniziata il 16 e prevista fino al 18 luglio, è guidata da don Michael Mbandama, Superiore della Visitatoria ZMB, con l’animazione del salesiano coadiutore John Nuuguna, del Kenya. L’evento si sta concentrando sull'affrontare le sfide e rafforzare la missione della Visitatoria.

Italia – Giffoni 55: Si rinnova la presenza della giuria CGS “Percorsi Creativi”

(ANS - Giffoni Valle Piana) – I giovani dell’Associazione C.G.S. (Cinecircoli Giovanili Socioculturali) saranno presenti alla 55^ Edizione del Festival Internazionale della Cinematografia per Ragazzi di Giffoni Valle Piana, dal 16 al 27 luglio 2025 per vivere il campo di formazione nazionale “Percorsi Creativi”, realizzato con il sostegno del Ministero italiano della Cultura (Direzione Generale per il Cinema e l’Audiovisivo) e con la collaborazione dei coordinamenti territoriali CGS delle Marche (circuito “Sentieri di cinema”) e della Sardegna (progetto finanziato dalla Fondazione di Sardegna).

Il gruppo sarà composto da circa 40 persone provenienti dai CGS locali di Ancona, Cagliari, Civitavecchia, Padova, Palermo e Taranto, tra cui 22 ragazze e ragazzi “teenager”, che saranno i veri protagonisti delle due giurie collaterali che nella serata finale del 26 luglio assegneranno il premio “Percorsi Creativi” (giunto alla diciottesima edizione) a due film in concorso per le categorie “Generator +13” e “Generator +16”.
