YES THERE IS STILL A HORRIFIC WAR IN UKRAINE: On a recent trip home to Tennessee, I was asked several times by different people if "that war was still going on" in Ukraine. This isn't to pick on Tennesseans, it happens almost everywhere.
Corporate media is broken and has almost ceased all coverage, as trump's "peace within 24 hours" is a distant memory.
I guess he doesn't like Americans to be reminded of his failures, so corporate media plays along, covering Taylor Swift, or people who fall off boats in the Bahamas, and other sensationalist clickbait.
So on that note, and as I prepare for my return travels to Ukraine, I will do the best I can to bring folks up to speed on ruzzia's war on Ukraine (once again, ruzzia is the war-mongering country and people - 80% of whom approve of the war to distinguish from Russians, who are anti-war and who are largely in exile or imprisoned).
- Ukraine is striking deep within ruzzia now with new long-range drones and artillery. This is terrifying to ruzzians and putin, who have up until now been very comfortable as Ukrainian civilians bore the misery. No more. ruzzians are getting a taste of their own medicine, finally. They are trembling and gnashing their teeth, none more so than putin himself, for whom this was is existential. Maybe now less than 80% of ruzzians will approve of their slaughter on Ukraine.
- Ukraine targets and strikes military and energy (which fuels ruzzia's war machine) targets.
- Ukraine is also winning on the ground, as Ukraine was able to win back more Ukrainian land that ruzzia had previously occupied in May than at any time since 2023.
- In response to these humiliating military defeats, ruzzia strikes Ukrainian civilian targets, such as apartments, buses, trains, hospitals, baby food factories, schools, and more. They do it with a barrage of expensive missiles combined with cheap drones every few days (though it's important to point out ruzzia attacks Ukrainian civilians daily with drones and other artillery).
- So far, ruzzia has murdered approximately 15,000+ civilians, 750 of them are children (some put estimates as high as 1,200) and has kidnapped at least 20,000 more (a war crime - just one of many).
- The trump administration continues to assist the aggressor (ruzzia) rather than our ally, Ukraine.
- Yet the Congress and Senate are beginning to assert themselves, with some republicans breaking from trump to support Ukraine, understanding that the vast majority of Americans, regardless of party, support Ukraine.
That's the most simple picture I can paint for you at this time. To understand more, pay attention to something besides corporate media. As I said, it is broken.

Others include Rainer Saks' daily newsletter (message me to be on his newsletter list), The Kyiv Independent Irish indie journalist Caolan Robertson on YT and Social media as , Terrell Jermaine Starr, an African American journalist living in Kyiv, Whitney R. Tilson a humanitarian and former NYC Mayoral candidate.
There are many more, but any of those named can get you started. I will do the best I can with the tools and abilities I have to keep you informed as well, especially when I'm on the ground in Ukraine next month.
But if you want to stay informed with factual journalism, then the onus is on you. YOU and ONLY YOU can determine if you want facts that can be difficult to process at times.... or would rather listen to banal stories of people falling off boats or believe mistruths and lies that trigger a short term dopamine rush and make people comfy in their daily reality but only make matters worse in the long run.
As for me, I will continue to choose facts as my weapon in fighting for the oppressed and vulnerable to achieve justice, and in all matters of my life.
In my mind, lies = hate and truth = love. Even if it's tough love.
So, yes, I love you.
And telling hard truths is my expression of that love.
