Sardegna, Isola di Sant'Antioco.

Un nuovo periplo della Sardegna si è concluso da poco. Quando il vento e le condizioni lo permettevano, di far volare il drone. Dopo una notte trascorsa in rada sotto Torre Cannai, abbiamo costeggiato l'isola della V***a. Da questo punto lo sguardo abbraccia anche l'isolotto del Vitello e, più lontano, il Toro: tre isole che, osservate da Capo Sperone, compongono uno dei paesaggi costieri che considero tra i più affascinanti e ipnotici della Sardegna.

A new circumnavigation of Sardinia has recently come to an end. I had the chance, whenever the wind and sea conditions allowed, to fly my drone. After spending a night at anchor beneath Torre Cannai, we sailed past the island of La V***a. From here, the view embraces the islet of Il Vitello and, farther offshore, Il Toro: three islands that, seen from Capo Sperone, create what I consider one of the most fascinating and hypnotic coastal

landscapes in Sardinia.

Sardegna, Capo Teulada, Porto Zafferano.

Il paesaggio di Porto Zafferano visto dal cielo, durante un tramonto e nelle prime luci del mattino. Ho trascorso la notte in barca, in rada, con la possibilità di osservare questo tratto di costa in due momenti completamente diversi. Al tramonto, quando la luce scalda e allunga le forme della costa; e al mattino presto, quando la luce radente restituisce al paesaggio una dimensione più silenziosa e sospesa. Ho potuto far volare il drone senza difficoltà, rispettando le limitazioni previste per questa zona militare e mantenendomi entro i 120 metri di quota. Due momenti della giornata, due luci, lo stesso paesaggio costiero.

Zafferano seen from above, captured during sunset and in the first light of the morning. I spent the night aboard the boat, at anchor, with the opportunity to observe this stretch of coastline at two completely different moments. At sunset, when the light warms and elongates the forms of the coast; and early in the morning, when the low light gives the landscape a quieter, almost suspended atmosphere. I was able to fly the drone without difficulty, respecting the restrictions in place for this military area and staying within the 120-metre altitude limit. Two moments of the day, two different lights, the same coastal landscape.

Sardegna, Ogliastra, Perde'e Pera, La Spiaggetta, 2026

Sulla spiaggia di ciottoli, un ginepro cresce a pochi passi dal mare, modellato dal vento e dalla salsedine.
È lui il protagonista di questo paesaggio, fotografato nelle ultime luci del giorno, quando il sole era ormai tramontato e il cielo continuava a diffondere una luce morbida e silenziosa.
Il ginepro è un soggetto che ritorna spesso nelle mie fotografie della Sardegna: alberi capaci di raccontare, con le loro forme, la forza del vento e la durezza di un ambiente costiero.

On the pebble beach, a juniper grows just a few steps from the sea, shaped by the wind and salt.
It is the protagonist of this landscape, photographed in the last light of the day, when the sun had already set and the sky was still spreading a soft, quiet light.
The juniper is a subject that often returns in my photographs of Sardinia: trees whose forms tell the story of the strength of the wind and the harshness of the coastal environment.

Sardegna, Baia di Santa Reparata, Capo Testa.

Sulla riva del mare giacciono alcune colonne di granito rimaste incompiute. Sono semilavorati abbandonati in quella che, con ogni probabilità, era una cava attiva già in epoca romana.

È sorprendente immaginare che questo tratto di costa, oggi modellato soltanto dal vento e dalle onde, fosse un luogo di lavoro dove il granito veniva estratto e sagomato prima di essere trasportato via mare verso altri approdi del Mediterraneo.

Il paesaggio conserva ancora le tracce di quella presenza umana: un dialogo silenzioso tra la forza della natura e la storia.

Sardinia, Santa Reparata Bay, Capo Testa.

On the shoreline lie unfinished granite columns, abandoned in what was most likely a quarry already active during the Roman period.

It is remarkable to imagine that this stretch of coastline, now shaped only by wind and waves, was once a place of work where granite was quarried and roughly carved before being transported by sea to other ports across the Mediterranean.

The landscape still preserves the traces of that human presence—a quiet dialogue between nature and history.

La rivista di Architettura Area ha pubblicato alcune pagine del mio progetto fotografico Cyclops nel numero Yachts Interior, dedicato alla nautica. L'avevo vista solo in digitale, poi, per caso, eccola esposta in un'edicola ad Alghero.

Il grande formato, la qualità della carta, la fisicità di una testata così: mi hanno reso fiero di averci collaborato. Avevo sottovalutato quanto prestigio sappiano ancora imporre le riviste di architettura e design: edizioni di carta che resistono al tempo, nonostante il digitale.

Una coincidenza nata proprio mentre ero in barca lungo le coste sarde: l'ho sfogliata subito, in navigazione. Spero che questo nuovo periplo mi regali qualche nuovo ciclope del nostro paesaggio costiero.

Sardegna, Trinità d'Agultu e Vignola.
Ho fotografato Cala La Poltrona, una profonda insenatura poco oltre la spiaggia di Cala Sarraina, da cui parte il sentiero.
Era una giornata di mare grosso. Da qui inizia la Costa Paradiso, conosciuta anche come Costa Rossa.
Al tramonto i graniti si tingono di un rosso caldo, mentre il mare continua a infrangersi sulla costa.
Ho aspettato per ore il tramonto, ma un cielo completamente sereno, privo di nuvole e di foschia, non ha soddisfatto le mie aspettative.
La fotografia che ho scelto per questo reel è stata invece scattata circa un'ora prima,
quando l'unica nuvoletta presente in cielo ha ammorbidito le ombre e valorizzato la schiuma delle grandi onde di Maestrale.

I photographed Cala La Poltrona, a deep cove just beyond Cala Sarraina Beach, where the footpath begins.
It was a day of rough seas. This is where Costa Paradiso, also known as the Red Coast, begins. At sunset, the granite cliffs glow with warm red tones as the sea keeps crashing against the shoreline.
I waited for hours for the sunset, but a perfectly clear sky, with neither clouds nor haze, didn't live up to my expectations.
The photograph I chose for this reel was actually taken about an hour earlier,
when the only small cloud in the sky softened the shadows and enhanced the white spray of the powerful Mistral-driven waves.

Sardegna, Porto Scudo
In navigazione lungo la costa sud-occidentale della Sardegna, tra gommone e drone, alla ricerca di paesaggi costieri da fotografare.

Un grande toro sulla spiaggia cattura subito la mia attenzione. Mi trovo nel territorio di Teulada, all'interno dell'area militare che durante l'estate diventa accessibile dal mare. La celebre spiaggia di Porto Zafferano appare profondamente trasformata dalle mareggiate invernali.

Dopo un rapido tuffo, riprendo il largo. Poco più avanti una baia che non conoscevo attira il mio sguardo. Faccio decollare il drone e inizio a fotografare.

Dall'alto, Porto Scudo rivela un paesaggio quasi primordiale: una grande mandria di vacche al pascolo si muove tra la macchia mediterranea e le tracce lasciate dai veicoli militari che, nei mesi invernali, si esercitano in quest'area rendendola inaccessibile.

E le mucche? Chissà dove si rifugiano quando iniziano le esercitazioni militari. In quel momento, però, erano loro le vere padrone di questo paesaggio.

Sailing along the south-western coast of Sardinia, moving between an inflatable boat and a drone in search of coastal landscapes to photograph.

A large bull standing on the beach immediately catches my attention. I am in the territory of Teulada, within the military area that becomes accessible from the sea during the summer months. The famous beach of Porto Zafferano appears deeply reshaped by the winter storms.

After a quick swim, I head back out to sea. A little further on, an unfamiliar bay draws my eye. I launch the drone and begin photographing.

From above, Porto Scudo reveals a primordial landscape: a large herd of cattle grazing among the Mediterranean scrub and the tracks left by military vehicles that use this area for exercises during the winter, when access is restricted.

And the cows? Who knows where they take shelter when the military exercises begin. At that moment, however, they were the true rulers of this landscape.

Guardate che spettacolo a Cagliari...dal 1993 ogni anno si ripete questa meravigliosa nidificazione nello Stagno.di Molentargius che Raniero Massoli-Novelli sin dagli anni '70 contribui' a proteggere e a far istituire! Grazie Raniero! ❤️

Non è stato facile arrivare fin qui.

Centinaia di pulli tra le zampe lunghe dei genitori. Atterraggi veloci, imbeccate di cibo, un caos pieno di vita. Tutto questo accade nel mezzo di una città, con il rumore del traffico che copre quasi tutto - i fenicotteri sono tantissimi e rumorosissimi, ma non si sentono quasi per niente.

Dal 1993 qui nidificano e si riproducono ogni anno. Il parco li protegge, non esistono capanni, nessun accesso ravvicinato. Ci sono arrivato con un teleobiettivo potente e grazie a un incontro fortuito con chi vive a due passi da questo miracolo della natura.

Queste immagini fanno parte del nuovo calendario SARDEGNA PAESAGGIO COSTIERO - sono in giro per tutta l'isola per realizzarlo. Altre le vedrete presto.

It wasn't easy to get here.

Hundreds of chicks between their parents' long legs. Fast landings, food feedings, a chaos full of life. All of this happens in the middle of a city, with traffic noise covering almost everything - the flamingos are countless and incredibly loud, yet you can barely hear them.

Since 1993 they have been nesting and breeding here every year. The park protects them - no hides, no close access. I got here with a powerful telephoto lens and thanks to a chance encounter with someone who lives just a stone's throw from this miracle of nature.
