The news we never wanted to hear.

Giuliano Sorgini has left us. He went quietly, in the general silence of mainstream media, which once again remains deaf to the treasures this musical giant created throughout his career.

But his name has now reached the recognition it always deserved. Today, his name carries weight. It matters. It has status. And that is partly thanks to those who, like our label and many other similar labels, have passionately rediscovered, championed, and released his music in recent years.

We shared countless days full of music, interviews, stories, and extraordinary discoveries with Giuliano: from the unreleased Afro-dark tapes of Africa Oscura to the horror-esoteric sounds of Occulto; and from the Pawnshop’s full sessions to the complete recordings for one of his masterpieces, Zoo F***e. (We licensed the album’s first official reissue from the majors, and how we managed that apparently impossible feat will forever stay a secret between Giuliano and us.)

We have rescued, restored, and brought dozens of his long-lost or hidden tapes to light. We began releasing these in recent years and will continue to do so, if possible, with even greater conviction than before. His legacy is a mix of brilliance, experimentation, and high-level DIY artistry. It shines even in smaller pieces like “Atonement,” where Giuliano’s minimalism and visionary approach go hand-in-hand. You listen to it and realize: if Italian cinema had more soundtracks like this, it would have been even more beautiful and powerful.

Without Giuliano, the story of Four Flies wouldn’t be what it is. He was the composer among the Golden Age legends we worked with that we felt the deepest connection to, thanks to the experiences, time, and music we shared.

Ciao, Giuliano. Your music will be with us always.
