Which dress? Please read my thoughts
Thought I'd be deciding between an off-shoulder long sleeve sheath or plunge neck fit-and-flare but here we are with two sweetheart A-lines.
Dress 1, Jenny Yoo Lindsey (pics 1-2): Fits all the descriptors I originally wanted to check: simple, modern but also classic (with a twist - literally!). Feels editorial and seems like the silhouette would be striking in wedding photos. Good structure in bust cups and boning. POCKETS. My cousin also pointed out that it's reminiscent of the top I wore on my first date with my FH, which made me sentimental (he will not remember lol, but I think would aww if reminded). Mikado material (I love the slight sheen) with a chapel length train; I know it's likely to get dirty as we're getting married on a mountaintop and plan to traverse some woodsy terrain for pre-ceremony photos. But I'm hoping will be easy enough to bustle for the reception (really know nothing about bustling, please tell me if I'm wrong). Well within my budget.
I actually tried this on first mostly to rule it out and ending up LOVING it; no other dress could compare until...
Dress 2, Watters Bellisima (pics 3-4): Obsessed with the embroidery and details which I think are so unique (skirt also has different layers of tulle/lace/organza); I predict these details may not be super obvious in photos but think the dress is stunning in person. Dress is surprisingly light which I loved (though a salesperson at another shop warned me that Watters dresses lack structure and tend to be flimsy - anyone have experience/similar or other opinions? I get she had an ulterior motive sell her dresses instead)
Smaller sweep train with layers of soft netting and tulle - can't figure out if this makes it likely to get more or less dirty (I've seen both opinions on weddit re: tulle). Also no idea how difficult it will be to bustle.
Finally, it's double the price of Dress 1, and will be a little over my original budget. However I'm very fortunate that my mom is paying for my dress; she loved this one and said not to worry about the cost. But I definitely don't love this dress twice as much as the first (not sure if that's how I should be looking at it). There's also an upcoming Watters trunk show where I could get it (assuming standard trunk show discount is 10%).
I feel beautiful in both. Help! Thank you!
