Nato nella prefettura di Osaka nel 1928, Osamu Tezuka ha raggiunto l'apice del mondo dello spettacolo creando storie che hanno plasmato lo stile dei manga e dei cartoni animati giapponesi come li conosciamo oggi. La sua carriera è iniziata dopo la seconda guerra mondiale, quando, nonostante frequentasse la facoltà di medicina, si è sempre più interessato alla scena artistica giapponese. Opere come Kimba il leone bianco, Astro Boy, Phoenix e Black Jack gli hanno valso grande successo e notorietà.
È scomparso nel 1989, lasciando il suo nome a uno dei premi più prestigiosi nel mondo dei fumetti. Born in Osaka Prefecture in 1928, Osamu Tezuka reached the apex of the entertainment world by crafting stories that shaped the style of Japanese manga and cartoons the way we know them today. His career began after World War II, when, despite going through medical school, he became more and more involved with the Japanese art scene. Works like Kimba the White Lion, Astro Boy, Phoenix, and Black Jack earned him great success and notoriety.
He passed away in 1989, leaving his name to one of the most prestigious awards in the world of comic books. hrough his comic books, Tezuka has described the history, religions, and cultures of the world, as well as the importance of life itself. In other words, he has chronicled the very existence and actions of all living things, starting with human beings.
In that respect, the history of the Rider-Waite Tarot and that of Osamu Tezuka’s works are very similar.
