In the middle of the Vinitaly marathon, on March 31st, we celebrated a milestone: Prof. Attilio Scienza turned 80. 🎉📚

All he ever really wants are books (sometimes he even steals them 😉). So we made him a special birthday “book card” to treasure.

As you can see in these few pages, the love and respect for the Professore is unmatched. ❤️

It had been awhile since we’d last recorded a “Scienza in the Mensa” our YouTube series for 📺 Mamma Jumbo Shrimp.

The original idea was to have a 🍽️ with Prof. Attilio Scienza and a Gen Z talking about anything remotely related to Italian Wine. We’d tried 🍣 🍕🍔 and then finally il Professore cooked past with 3️⃣ different sauces for us. Dimenticavo, we also had a fabulous home cooked meal with Davide’s Nonna Pasqua.

At the last minute, literally, we’d decided to opt for a local restaurant. And thanks to Enea, we got hooked up with his buddy Matteo from Tre Marchetti just behind the 🏟️🙏🏾

The food was delicious and it even came with a 🎤🎶. Y’all have to wait for the surprise 😜

This was my day, what about you⁉️

Recently I was copied in an email reply by Prof. Attilio Scienza for a Vine Genetics query AND Il Professore answered in perfect English! 😝

He’ll be at the office tomorrow for another recording session of Everybody needs a bit of Scienza and we might even do some live so send us your questions🙌🏾

67 Steps, 🍗 BBQ at Greenport Firehouse, Bald 🦅 🦅 sighting on our morning walk, hanging out on the 🏖️ just 💬, 🍉 🌽 actually 🌽🌽🌽🌽🌽🌽🌽🌽🙌🏾 and the most amazing 🌅. Time to now go back 🏠.

Some random favorites from this little escape: 🍷 wine friends, a peaceful walk along an empty beach in the heat of Ferragosto (which clearly doesn’t exist here), “stair master” sessions with the Sista (which I’m more than happy to opt out of), Orient Village go to sandwich place, oysters and corn on the cob from Lathams.

With the video team still on holiday, I was forced to step in behind the cameras only to discover none of the DJI or Rode mics wanted to pair today! Luckily, Mark, our recent Italian Wine Podcast guest saved the day with an extra set not to mention the recording venue .wine.

Add in the Brooklyn heat, and it felt like the universe was testing me.
