Police are investigating a case of wounding with intent following an incident at the Fantasy Craft Market on Jimmy Cliff Boulevard in Montego Bay on Tuesday night.

The victim has been identified as Mr. Thelwel, a 55-year-old craft vendor of Montpelier, St James.

Reports are that at about 9:00 p.m., Mr. Thelwel was at his craft shop when three men entered. One of the men, who was wearing a mask and armed with a handgun, allegedly placed the weapon against the victim's head.

Mr. Thelwel reportedly pushed the gunman's hand away, after which loud explosions, believed to be gunshots, were heard.

The three men allegedly escaped on foot.

Police sources have confirmed a major breakthrough in the investigation into the Waterford shooting death of American actor Brian-Todd Anthony Boucher, known by the stage name Ajoy. Boucher, who appeared in the film Bob Marley: One Love, was shot and killed late Saturday in Waterford, St Catherine.

It’s understood charges are expected to be laid this week following intensive operations by detectives attached to the St Catherine South Police Division. The development marks a significant step forward in a case that has drawn international attention due to Boucher’s connection to the acclaimed biopic.
