Within the next few months, the Office of Utilities Regulation (OUR) will have the capacity to independently verify the quality of telecommunications services being provided to the public.

Minister of Energy, Transport and Telecommunications, Hon. Daryl Vaz, said that the entity is in the final stages of procuring equipment “which will allow them to independently verify and impose the sanctions that are in the Act”.

KFC Jamaica has announced a new brand partnership with Andre Blake, Reggae Boyz star goalkeeper and captain, welcoming one of Jamaica’s most respected footballers as its newest member to the KFC brand family.

Through the partnership, Blake will serve as the face of KFC’s 2026 Summer World Cup campaign. KFC will also support outreach initiatives to be undertaken by Blake through his foundation, further extending the partnership beyond the campaign and into areas focused on youth development, empowerment, and community impact.

Inflation in the United States has accelerated to a three-year high of 4.2% year-over-year, according to the latest numbers just released by the US Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS)

This surge is primarily driven by spiking energy costs, with overall energy prices jumping 23.5% amid ongoing geopolitical tensions in the Middle East. Inflation rose by 0.5 per cent in May compared with the prior month, following a 0.6 per cent jump in April.

Jamaican referee Oshane Nation is set to represent Concacaf and the Caribbean at the FIFA World Cup 2026 after being selected among the match officials for the tournament.

The 35-year-old becomes the first Caribbean referee selected for the FIFA World Cup since fellow Jamaican and mentor Peter Prendergast officiated at the 2002 tournament in the Republic of Korea and Japan. Nation is among nine referees selected from Concacaf and part of a record 29 match officials from the confederation overall.
