From the team at Ministry of Education & Youth

As schools across Jamaica reopen today, there is renewed hope for institutions in western Jamaica. Some schools in western and northern Jamaica, within Region 3, have been provided with temporary classroom solutions from Unicef Jamaica to support continued learning. William Knibb Memorial High School is among the beneficiaries, having received tents to assist with classroom space. Other schools receiving tents include Warsop Primary, Albert Town Primary, Albert Town High School, and Bohemia Primary.

From the team at Ministry of Labour and Social Security, Jamaica

As at January 1, 2025, over 15,000 Jamaican workers have benefited from overseas employment opportunities through programmes including the Seasonal Agricultural Workers Programme (SAWP).

These numbers represent more than statistics, they represent livelihoods sustained, families supported and communities strengthened.

Through greenhouse agriculture and seasonal farm work, participants gain more than employment — they gain skills, exposure and pathways to growth that support their families and strengthen communities back home.
Through SAWP, we continue to connect Jamaicans to opportunity, growth and meaningful work.

This is work with purpose.

What do you think ?

In an effort to reduce loitering by students in Mandeville, the Jamaica Constabulary Force visited various locations frequented by students, including Bank House Mall, Willow Gate Plaza, and the Arcade.

The objective of the patrol was to encourage students to head home after school and avoid loitering in areas that may put them at risk.

They urge parents, guardians and the community to work with them in keeping young people safe and focused on their education.
