If I had waited to feel qualified, I would have missed this moment.

Recently, I was recommended to do a leadership course. At first, I said “okay.” But the moment I received the information and started filling out the application form… guess what showed up? Self-doubt.

I began finding every reason to tell the person why I wasn’t qualified — but thank God for people who see what you’re capable of, even when you don’t see it in yourself.

I pushed past the doubt, completed my application, created my profile, and submitted it.

Then came the first class. Our group was formed, and during our very first meeting, we were assigned a group presentation. And guess who was chosen to present? Yup — me. And again, self-doubt came knocking. This time, it tried to use my personal circumstances as an excuse to back out.

But I reminded myself: If God saw it fit for me to do this course, then He must be up to something.

Here’s what I’ve learned: Growth rarely happens in the safe, familiar spaces. It happens when you say “yes” to stretching, learning, and becoming — even when it’s uncomfortable.

The vision God placed inside me required me to level up — so I did it afraid.

To anyone wondering if you’re “enough” for the next level: You are.
Start before you’re ready. Do it scared. Do it anyway.

Think leadership. Think PALI.

What I Wish I Had Known When I Became a Christian Widow

Honestly? When I lost my husband, it felt like I was tossed into the deep end with cement shoes. No map. No life jacket. No instructions.
Forget “finding myself." Some days, I was just trying to remember to breathe.

Looking back now, there are a few things I really wish someone had whispered in my ear.
So if you’re new to this whole “starting over” journey, pull up a chair, sis. Here’s the real talk:

1. Healing is a hot mess, not a smooth process.

One day, you're "okay-ish," the next you're ugly crying because a song, a smell, or a memory gut-punched you out of nowhere.
That’s normal.
Grief is wild and unpredictable, but God is with you through the whole rollercoaster ride. Trust me.

2. You’re allowed to laugh again.

Yes, laugh. Smile. Giggle. Even full-on snort-laugh.
Joy doesn’t cancel your love or pain. It just means you’re still alive.

I remember one day at work, someone said,
“Wait... your husband passed? But you're always smiling!”
And yes, I was. Because I decided that I won't wear my grief on my sleeve.
Even through the pain, I will laugh. It's how I survive.

3. God’s not done with you (or your mess).

Even if your story feels broken, unfinished, or downright tragic. He’s still writing.
And God? He specializes in turning broken pieces into something stunning.
Let Him do His thing. He’s not finished with you yet.

If you’re starting over as a Christian widow, just know this:
* You are not alone.
* There’s no shame in the slow days, the deep cries, or the surprising moments of joy.
* You can start again.
* And God? He’s walking every single step with you.

Grief shattered my world, but God's Word was my anchor.

Here are 5 verses that held me through the storm:

📖 Psalm 68:5 - A father of the fatherless and a judge for the widows,
Is God in His holy habitation.

📖 Psalm 34:18 - The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.

📖 Isaiah 41:10 - ‘Do not fear, for I am with you; Do not anxiously look about you, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, surely I will help you, Surely I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.’

📖 Psalm 3:3 - But You, O Lord, are a shield about me, My glory, and the One who lifts my head.

📖 Romans 8:28 - And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.

Which verse has helped you in hard times?

🌱 Growth looks different for all of us. Don’t compare your chapter one to someone else’s chapter 100. We each have our own unique purpose and path to follow.

✨ "The beauty of growth is that it’s never too late to start."

🌟 "A growth mindset allows us to learn, adapt, and thrive in any situation."

🔥 "Without growth, we become stagnant and lose our passion for life."

💫 "Growth isn't optional; it's essential for a fulfilling life."

I remember that Sunday in December at the hospital, waiting for the doctors to do their thing. The Lord placed the song "Peace In My Soul" by in my spirit, and He gave me peace in the midst of all that was happening.

After my husband died, God told me to play "Carry Me" by and to keep playing it as my prayer. Both of these songs were played at his funeral.

People would say, "Girl, you are strong, I admire your strength," and I would just smile. While they saw strength, I was dying inside. But one thing is for sure: the strength they saw was the strength of the Lord.

The Lord put things in place to help me through this journey.

Just to encourage someone: no matter what you are going through, the Lord has you, and He will put things and people in place to help you through this season. Trust the process and, most of all, trust God. You might not understand why, and you might not get the answers to your questions, but God is forever faithful.

A few months after my husband's passing and trying to navigate this new life.

I felt I was failing as a mom, and I struggled with the thoughts that I wasn't doing my best, I wasn't good enough, etc. Everything negative you could think about came at me like bricks hitting a wall.

Sure, I did everything I could to overcome all this...
I cried, I prayed, I spoke to my counselor, and I did affirmations, etc, but it still felt like I was in a losing battle.

But one thing for sure is that God doesn't play about me.

In all my ranting and all my doubting. God would have it that I was given this certificate for the Most Outstanding Parent. The one who felt like she was failing this new journey as a single mom was awarded Most Outstanding Parent.

NB: To all the moms out there feeling that you are not good enough, you are not doing your best, you are failing...

Just remember:
"You are a good mother”
“You are doing your best”
“You don’t have it all together, and that's OK”
“You are doing an awesome job”
