Greetings and Salutations. Check out .society .society Look out for the new book/article. 📖 Preface》"This work was born from a deep concern for those whose minds are misunderstood & whose actions are judged without context. Across , the Caribbean, and the wider world, individuals living with mental illness are disproportionately entangled in criminal justice systems that often punish where they should protect, and silence where they should listen.
As a Criminologist, , Profiler and advocate, I have witnessed
how schizophrenia, , & substance use disorders are not merely clinical diagnoses—they are lived realities shaped by trauma, poverty, systemic neglect, and colonial legacies.
🚦This book does not seek to excuse criminal behaviour, but to understand it. 🌧It asks: Is mental illness a cause of crime, or its consequence? & what happens when justice systems fail to make that distinction?
Through case studies, legal analysis,
& Criminological & Psychological theories, this study aims to illuminate the human stories behind the statistics. It is a call to policymakers, educators, and justice professionals to rethink how we respond to mental illness in the context of crime—not with fear or punishment, but with dignity, care, and systemic reform.
I dedicate this work to those who have been forgotten in cells, misunderstood in
courtrooms, and misdiagnosed by systems that were never built to serve them. May this book
be a step toward justice that heals.
