Il 18 maggio del 1981 esce l’unico album degli Wanderers, punk band di breve durata composta da Stiv Bators e dagli ex Sham 69 Dave Tregunna (basso), Dave Parsons (chitarra) e Ricky Goldstein (batteria). Dopo che Jimmy Pursey lasciò gli Sham i tre decisero di continuare a suonare, proprio mentre Stiv Bators si trovava a Londra dopo aver pubblicato il suo album solista “Disconnected”. “Only lovers left alive” fu registrato nel dicembre 1980, ed è uno strano mix di punk, pop e garage rock, un concept album sulla storia di un teenager che trova e ascolta delle cassette di un ex agente CIA cospirazionista… il disco fu un insuccesso commerciale e la band si sciolse dopo che Dave Parsons si prese l’epatite (vita sana…), Bators e Tregunna fondarono i Lords Of The New Church, mentre Goldstein, col soprannome di “Rick Rock” si unì alla più longeva cover band inglese dei Beatles (???). Nel 2000 la Captain Oi ha ristampato il disco su CD.
On May 18 1981, the only album by the Wanderers was released, a short-lived punk band formed by Stiv Bators and former Sham 69 members Dave Tregunna (bass), Dave Parsons (guitar) and Ricky Goldstein (drums). After Jimmy Pursey left Sham the three decided to continue playing, just as Stiv Bators was in London after releasing his solo album “Disconnected”. “Only lovers left alive” was recorded in December 1980, and is a strange mix of punk, pop and garage rock, a concept album about the story of a teenager who finds and listens to the tapes of a former conspiracy CIA agent… the album was a commercial failure and the band broke up after Dave Parsons got hepatitis (what a healthy life...), Bators and Tregunna founded Lords Of The New Church, while Goldstein (with the nickname “Rick Rock”) joined the longest-running English Beatles cover band (???)
