Today on Healthy Insights on EDGE 105FM, sponsored by Perry’s Funeral Home, we were joined by Dr. Kimone Young, General Practitioner, for an eye-opening conversation on Gut Health 🥗🧠

We broke down why your gut is so important — from digestion and nutrient absorption to immunity, skin health, mental clarity, and overall wellness. Dr. Young explained how the balance of good and bad bacteria in the gut plays a major role in keeping the body healthy.

We also explored detoxing what it really means, its benefits, and common myths. From understanding that the body detoxes daily through the liver and kidneys, to tips like fasting, liquid diets, lemon water, teas, dragon fruit, and apple cider vinegar, this was a must-hear discussion.

Dr. Young also shared when and how often to detox, warning against over-detoxing and advising that detoxing is best done during slower periods when the body can properly rest and reset.

⚠️ WEATHER ALERT: FLASH FLOOD WATCH EXTENDED ⚠️

The Meteorological Service of Jamaica has extended the Flash Flood Watch for eastern and south-central parishes including St. Mary, Portland, St. Thomas, Kingston & St. Andrew, St. Catherine, Clarendon, and Manchester until 7:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 6, 2026.

A broad surface trough continues to bring unstable weather, with light to moderate showers and isolated thunderstorms affecting these areas since last night. With soil already saturated, flooding is possible — even during light rainfall.

🌊 Marine Advisory: Sea conditions may worsen near showers and thunderstorms. Fishers and marine interests, especially along the south coast, should exercise caution.

👉 A Flash Flood Watch means flooding is possible. Stay alert, take necessary precautions, and keep listening for updates from the Meteorological Service.

Stay safe, Jamaica.

The Meteorological Service has issued a Flash Flood Watch for low-lying and flood-prone areas of St Mary, Portland, St Thomas, Kingston & St Andrew, St Catherine, Clarendon and Manchester, effective until 7:00 a.m. Monday, January 5.

This follows the passage of a broad trough across the central Caribbean, bringing moderate to heavy showers and thunderstorms since last night—especially across eastern and south-central parishes. Unsettled weather is expected to continue today into Monday, with marine conditions likely to deteriorate, particularly near heavy rainfall.

⚠️ Residents and marine interests, especially along the south coast, are urged to exercise caution, monitor official updates, and be prepared to act if flooding occurs or a Flash Flood Warning is issued.

Forecast Details
• Sky Conditions: Overcast/cloudy at times with scattered showers across sections of eastern, central and western parishes
• Significant Feature: Stationary Front / Surface Trough
• Morning/Afternoon: Partly cloudy with occasional showers, especially over northern parishes
• Tonight: Mainly fair and cool
• Winds: East-northeast near 15 knots
• Temperatures: Highs 28–30°C

Stay weather-aware and safe, Jamaica.
