Dean A-Plus - Dean A+

Dean A-Plus - Dean A+ Dean A-Plus, AKA Dean Anderson, is a part-time artiste. He has been independently doing music since 2015.

Dean A-Plus got interested in making music at the age of 16 when influenced by some of his family members who are musicians, and by some of his peers from high school who did their own music. The "A-Plus" from his stage name was inspired by one of his school mates thinking that the young artiste had some great future potential. As years went by, Dean had been quietly doing music on an occasional b

asis, but is now looking to get his songs verified and certified. So stay tuned for updates in the near future as the distribution process is undergoing.

Song 12 of 25, "Mek the Money" (feat. Twin-Dem Double Energy). Composed September 2018, recorded October 2018. All master and song composition rights reserved. We don't own the rights to the instrumental.

Trivia: I recall first hearing 47th Floor Riddim when I was in 5th form. It was upbeat and had some groove to it. The only thing I composed at the time was the chorus. Following "Bad Whistle" and "Industrial Electronics" demos, the twins and I wanted to record songs that had a more professional sound. Since we didn't have the equipment (or technology) at the time, the twins told me about a small home studio in Greenvale, Manchester called LMG Productions. So we decided to record 3 songs there.
1. We a Bad Man
2. Mek the Money
3. Real Friend

We also performed "Mek the Money" live at the HEART NSTA TRUST (Derrick Rochester Campus) in late 2018. This was my first performance since Hampton's culturerama in 2016 (no footage of that, unfortunately).

Song 11 of 25, "Start Wine". Composed November 2017, recorded November 2025.
Honourable Mention, "Bad Whistle - Demo" (feat. Twin-Dem Double Energy). Composed March 2018, recorded March 2018.
Honourable Mention, "Industrial Electronics - Demo" (feat. Twin-Dem Double Energy).

All master and song compositions rights reserved. I don't own the rights to the instrumental.

Trivia: Let me break down how these 3 songs are connected. Well...mostly by the riddim. This was one of my favourite riddims done by Stephen McGregor. After composing "Start Wine" in late 2017, I decided to record 2 other demos on this same riddim in early 2018. After graduating Munro College, I began a short course at HEART NSTA Trust (Derrick Rochester Campus) on January 2018. There, I met 2 students who were twin brothers and indie artistes in their own rights. The called themselves Twin-Dem Double Energy.

At one point, the 3 of us along with 3 other students were in a group and tasked to present a creative and entertaining video of how to properly clean the computer. We planned a skit and composed a song, and that song was "Bad Whistle" (and we scored the highest on the project btw 😉). This song birthed my first ever collaboration throughout my music timeline. Big up to the twins, every time 💯

Almost midway throughout my Industrial Electronics (I.E.) programme at HEART, a talent competition was being planned. Each programme at the HEART campus was to compete against each other on what makes their programme the best.

After the success of "Bad Whistle", we decided to compose another song on the same riddim to use for the talent show. Unfortunately, the talent show was a no show as it didn't came to fruition. So we decide to record the demo of I.E. rather than perform it live.

And that's how these 3 songs are all connected.

Song 10 of 25, "Yuh Deh Pon Me Mind". Composed August 2017, recorded November 2025. All master and song composition rights reserved. I don't own the rights to the instrumental.

Trivia: I can't recall any trivia behind composing this 1 🤔 I guess at the time, I just like how the riddim was upbeat 🤷🏻‍♂️ Big up

Sidenote: After a month's hiatus since hurricane Melissa, I'm continuing my 10th anniversary of music releases. Going to drop a song twice per week this month to catch-up on the timeline.

Song 9 of 25, "Wave the (Jamaican) Flag". Composed August 2017, recorded October 2025. All master and song composition rights reserved.

Trivia: In Emancipendence 2017, festival songs were playing everywhere. From radio, to cars passing by on the road. It kinda made me feel like composing my own to submit into a competition one day. That day hasn't come yet, but a God and time 🙏🏻

Happy 🇯🇲

Song 8 of 25, "We a Bad Man" featuring Twin-Dem Double Energy. Composed February 2017, recorded October 2018. All master and song composition rights reserved.

Trivia: Again, I don't condone violence, but this was clash song number 2 that I composed in preparation for the alleged high school clash at the time. Since the clash didn't end up happening, I only composed the first verse and chorus.

In 2018, when I started HEART TRUST, I met a set of Twins who also enjoyed doing music. They were interested in doing a callaboration with me. Given that this song was unfinished, I decided to let them complete the rest of it. We recorded this at homemade studio in the bushy hills of Greenvale where the Twins were from. Big up LMG productions 💯

"We a Bad Man" marks the first of a few callaborations I did with Twin-Dem at the time. Expect more soon, by song number 11.

Song 7 of 25, "Sadness". Composed January 2017, recorded October 2025. All master and song composition rights reserved.

Trivia: I don't condone violence, which might be in contrast with the song lyrics here 😅 But there was a time in high school where some rumours were spreading that I'll be in a clash against another school mate. Ian Spence (aka Akka) was an indie artiste in his own right, and he was known for doing war songs, especially on the spot. So I had to compose something in order to prepare for the battle so that at least it look like me put up a good fight 😂

(Un)Fortunately, the clash didn't happen, and no, me never did a hide out. 🌚 It just never came to fruition. Nevertheless, it did give me the chance to experiment composing a war chune. "Sadness" is 1 of two songs I initially composed for the clash. Stay tuned next week to see what war song number 2 is.

Another fun fact, back in the day, I had a large WhatsApp group, and at 1 point, 1 a me chargies (Antwone) started saying "Sadness" whenever some drama gwaan. We eventually took it to another level with memes and stickers quoting "Sadness". Long story short, that period was also what inspired this song title.

Song 6 of 25, "Real Fake". Composed October 2016, recorded September 2025. All master and song composition rights reserved.

Trivia: Not much to say here. The lyrics are self explanatory. In a nutshell, there are times where you feel like there are fake people who surrounds you. The way they treat you, you do the same. "Do onto others as you'd have them do onto you."

22/09/2025

Song 5 of 25, "Test of Life". Composed July 2016, recorded September 2025. All master and song composition rights reserved.

Trivia: The first four songs I composed were geared towards being "gyal chune". By the time I reached the 5th song, I felt like I should try exploring some unique topics. There weren't many dancehall songs back then (or even today) singing about uplfiment, particularly for the youths who are struggling.

Inspired by certain anthems such as Vybz Kartel's "Thank You Jah" and Vershon's "Real Life", I decided to test my composition skills on the sensitive topic of youth struggle and empowerment.

Song 4 of 25, "Feel the (Summer) Vibes". Composed May 2016, recorded August 2025. All master and song composition rights reserved.

Trivia: At the time of this post, we're out of the Summer season. But throwing back to the mid and late 2010s, there was a big annual Summer party held at Royes Plaza, Junction, St. Elizabeth that I've always enjoyed. Yes, you guessed right, Foam & Water Party.

I attended my first one in 2015, and felt inspired to compose a Summer song based on that experience. This composition was done May 2016 in high anticipation for the next one 2 months later.

The instrumental of "One by One", by Laza Morgan and Mavado felt like the perfect riddim to voice on since it gave that Summer vibes feeling to it.
