♻️ Turning Plastic Waste Into Clean Water Solutions
A research team at the Nagoya Institute of Technology (Japan) has developed a breakthrough method to convert plastic waste into a powerful, low-cost material for water purification using only sunlight.
Using an optimized mechanochemical process (planetary ball mill), the team transformed plastic and MoO₃ into composite particles containing HxMoO₃–y, MoO₂, and activated carbon—creating a multifunctional super-catalyst.
⭐ What This Catalyst Can Do???
☀️ Photocatalytic degradation of organic pollutants
🔥 Photothermal evaporation for fast clean-water recovery
⚗️ Brønsted acid catalysis even without light
🧲 Adsorption of heavy metals from wastewater
This work shows how waste plastics can be upcycled into advanced materials supporting global clean-water and sustainability efforts.
