This is the Sierra Leone we all want to see! 🇸🇱✨

Last night, at the official launch of Housemate Salone Season 4 at Chapter One, we witnessed a powerful moment of unity and progress. Her Excellency First Lady Madam Fatima Maada Bio stood side by side with Freetown Mayor Yvonne Aki-Sawyerr — a moment that spoke volumes.

In a country often divided by politics, seeing two powerful women leaders from different sides come together for a common cause sends a strong message: when we unite, Sierra Leone wins.

This year’s theme, “Clean Game,” is more than a slogan. It’s a call for integrity, fairness, and positive values — especially for the younger generation looking up to role models like the Housemates.

The energy at the launch was electric, with dignitaries from all walks of life — ruling and opposition, business leaders, creatives — all in one room. That’s the spirit we need moving forward.

With a grand prize of 1 billion old Leones on the line, this season promises to be unforgettable. But beyond the competition, it’s moments like these that remind us of the bigger picture: unity, collaboration, and hope for a better Sierra Leone.

🛡️ Honoring a Complex Legacy: Samuel Hinga Norman (1940–2007) 🇸🇱

Captain Samuel Hinga Norman was more than a soldier—he was a protector of our people during one of Sierra Leone’s darkest times.

Born in Mongeri, Bo District, Hinga Norman rose from the Sierra Leone Army to serve as Deputy Defence Minister and later Interior Minister. But he is best remembered for leading the Kamajors, traditional Mende hunters who formed the backbone of the Civil Defence Forces (CDF) during the civil war.

💬 To many, he was a hero who defended villages from rebel attacks when no one else could.
⚖️ To others, he was a controversial figure later indicted for war crimes—charges he denied until his death in 2007 before his trial could be concluded.

Despite the debate surrounding his legacy, one truth remains: Hinga Norman left a powerful mark on Sierra Leone’s history and in the hearts of many Mende people.

🕊️ As we continue preserving and promoting Mende culture, we remember those who stood to protect it—even in the face of conflict.
