It was the first time in three years that BIFF2022 was held where buyers could also participate from different countries without much COVID restrictions.
Until last year, BIFF was still mainly held online, but this year, for the first time in three years, many participants gathered from abroad, and I think the event was a great success. Official opening parties and parties hosted by film distributors were held here and there at night, and everyone spent a sleepless but exciting few days catching up and making connections until midnight.
From Japan, major distributors such as, Toei, GAGA, Toho, Kadokawa, and VIPO's joint booths, and TV stations such as Nagoya TV and ABC Animation also exhibited booths. Without a booth badge, there were many buyers from Japan, but as sellers, MBS Mainichi Broadcasting and we, KBC(GlocalK) participated at the site.
バイヤーも各国から参加ができる開催となったのは3年ぶりとなったBIFF2022.
昨年までは、BIFFもまだオンラインが主流だったが、今年は、海外から3年ぶりに多くの参加者が集まり、大盛況だったと思う。夜もあちらこちらで、オフィシャルのオープニングパーティや配給会社主催のパーティが開催され、夜中まで3年ぶりのキャッチアップとコネクションメイキングで、皆寝不足だが活気に満ちた数日間を過ごした。
日本からは、大手の東映、GAGA, 東宝、角川、VIPO合同ブースなどはもちろんのこと、テレビ局からも、名古屋テレビやABCアニメーションがブースを出展。ブースなしバッジの参加では、日本からはバイヤーが多かったようだが、セラーとしては、MBS毎日放送や、弊社KBCが現地に顔を出した。
