Zoo official statement:

The monkey mountain construction has been temporarily suspended, and viewing is currently available.

The photo shows the condition of the entrance row.Viewing while moving around the monkey mountain.

We were concerned about the monkeys' condition, but according to the zookeepers, the monkeys don't seem particularly bothered.

As this is a trial, we also welcome
your impressions and opinions regarding the viewing method.

Work was done on the monkey hill too,
but as of Silver Week,

As construction on Monkey Mountain nears completion, the long wait is almost over. We are finally approaching the wonderful moment when we can see Punch playing happily with his troop once again.

The dedicated zookeeper dads have worked tirelessly throughout this closure to ensure a safer, more beautiful environment for both the macaques and visitors.

We deeply appreciate their hard work and thoughtful updates during this journey, and we cannot wait to welcome Punch back to our screens very soon.

Zoo official statement:

Lately, we've been experiencing continuous bad weather, which has significantly delayed the construction on Monkey Mountain,
but for Silver Week (9/19-23), it will be open for viewing.

For these 5 days, Monkey Mountain will trial
a "circulation viewing system."
Details will be announced again before the holiday period.

It has now been twelve days since Monkey Mountain was closed to visitors, and just as long since we last saw Punch playing happily alongside his troop.

While missing his daily adventures and playful moments is tough for his global community of supporters, we know this temporary closure allows the dedicated staff to focus on essential facility upgrades.

We remain patient, hopeful, and eager for the day we can see Punch thriving once again.

Rethinking Visitor Viewing:

Zoo official Yasunaga acknowledged that the steel barriers and netting previously put up to reduce crowd stress do not look cheerful.

The zoo is using the closure to design a safer, more visually pleasing viewing system.

It has been eleven days since the zoo last shared an official update on Punch, leaving devoted supporters everywhere missing his daily presence.

While the extended silence feels long, we remain confident that he is safe, healthy, and making steady progress alongside the macaque troop.

We truly appreciate the keepers' hard work behind the scenes during this busy transition and look forward to hearing fresh news about Punch very soon.

Punch's story has inspired several indie games. A web game titled Zoo Fighter developed by an ex-Fortnite creator lets players control Punch to fend off aggressive monkeys with his plushie.

Additionally, mobile titles like Punch Monkey: Find My Family (App Store) and Punch the Monkey Adventure (Google Play) have capitalised on his journey.
