Our Story
Outdoor Japan Media is a boutique media house in Japan that publish travel, adventure and lifestyle media such as the Outdoor Japan web site (launched in 2000), the longest running English or bilingual travel and adventure travel media in Japan and Outdoor Japan Traveler magazine (launched in 2005), the first bilingual travel, adventure and outdoor lifestyle magazine in Japan.
Outdoor Japan Media also publishes the Japan Edition of The Surfer's Journal (launched in 2011), the premium reader-supported surfing magazine that is widely recognized as the finest surf magazine in the world.
With the support of the Japan Tourism Agency, Outdoor Japan Adventures, the booking engine focused on travel and tours in Japan, was launched to connect travelers with great experiences in Japan.
Outdoor Japan Media publishes the Japan Snow Guide, Japan Snow Guide Mobile App (iOS and Android) and an English surfing guide for Japan. Outdoor Japan pioneered winter music festivals in Japan and has been organizing Snow Splash Mountain Music Festival since 2006 (ski weekend + mountain music festival) and Summer Splash Mountain Music Festival (adventure weekend + mountain music festival) in summer.
Outdoor Japan has produced documentary films for NHK World, YouTube and Facebook videos for major brands and regularly produces videos to support editorial and events. Outdoor Japan also provides custom publishing solutions including design, graphics, translation, printing and delivery specializing in the tourism and lifestyle sector.
