Shibuya is introducing stricter anti-littering rules, with people caught throwing trash in certain areas now facing on-the-spot fines of ¥2,000 🚯

A typhoon is hitting Japan right now. Here’s what to know.

🌀 Typhoon No. 6 “Jangmi” has passed through Okinawa and the Amami Islands and is now heading toward the Kansai region (Osaka, Kyoto), where it may make landfall early Wednesday morning.
🌀 The official storm zone has dissolved, but heavy rain of up to 350mm and strong winds are still expected.
🌀 Rainfall peaks overnight into Wednesday dawn — avoid going out after dark.
🌀 Tokyo commuters should expect heavy rain and possible train delays on June 3 — check your route before heading out.
🌀 JAL and ANA have cancelled flights today, with more possible — check with your airline before heading to the airport.

All typhoons should be taken seriously. Please stay safe and indoors where possible, and keep an eye on the latest updates as things are always changing. Our advice does not replace official weather guidance.

Tokyo Pride brings an extra splash of color to Harajuku this weekend. Pride Festival will take over Yoyogi Park for two days while the Pride Parade heads through the streets on Sunday. A four-ton portable shrine will do a tour of its own through Asakusa for Torigoe Matsuri, plus fireflies, food fests, and Yokohama Port Festival provide a ton more reasons to explore the city.
