📅 Silver Week 2026 ー A rare 5-day consecutive holiday in Japan❗️

Dates run from September 19 (Saturday) to September 23 (Wednesday, 2026)

Silver Week is an infrequent autumn holiday streak formed when "Respect for the Aged Day" [ 21] and "Autumnal Equinox Day" [23] create a bridge via a national "Citizen's Holiday" [22].

The 2026 five-day break marks the first occurrence in 11 years since 2015, with the next 5-day stretch deferred to 2032.

Famous for its breathtaking seasonal flower fields that transform the landscape in both spring and autumn.

Kochia (Summer Cypresses): Starting in late September, the fluffy green kochia bushes on Miharashi Hill transition into a stunning fiery red, peaking by mid-October.

💙 "Spring"
Nemophila (Baby Blue Eyes): From mid-April to early May, Miharashi Hill turns into a massive, magical sea of 5.3 million blue flowers that blend seamlessly with the sky and ocean.

📍Maruoka Castle (丸岡城, Maruoka-jō)

A hirayama-style Japanese castle located in the Maruoka neighbourhood of the city of Sakai, Fukui Prefecture.

The only original castle keep in the Hokuriku region and one of 12 remaining in Japan.

* (The main keep is undergoing a major preservation, restoration, and seismic-reinforcement project from March 2026 through November 2027.)

📍Narai-juku

The longest and one of the best-preserved Edo-period post towns in Japan, stretching about one kilometer along the historic Nakasendo trail in Shiojiri City, Nagano Prefecture.

Known as "Narai of a Thousand Houses" (Narai senken) because it was the wealthiest and most populated post town along the 69 stations of the Nakasendo Road.

Designated as a National Important Preservation District for Groups of Historic Buildings.
