Yuki Matsuda’s Short Film NIGEMIZU Showcases Her Multidisciplinary Talent — Featuring the First New Release from Young Juvenile Youth in Six Years

Tokyo, Japan — NIGEMIZU, a short film produced by and starring Yuki Matsuda, highlights her remarkable range of talents—not only as a singer, but also as a songwriter, composer, and the creative force behind the acclaimed electronic music unit Young Juvenile Youth. In addition, Yuki is active as an actress, graphic artist, and illustrator. This ambitious work marks a bold new creative frontier for her, transcending conventional boundaries across multiple disciplines.

NIGEMIZU has been officially nominated for Short Shorts Film Festival & Asia 2025, one of Asia’s largest and most prestigious international short film festivals, earning high praise for its visionary storytelling and artistic depth.

Central to the film is the track “A Guy”—Young Juvenile Youth’s long waiting new release in six years. Originally envisioned during the sessions for the 2019 Dialogue EP, this long-awaited song—written and composed by Yuki — served as the conceptual foundation for the cinematic world of NIGEMIZU.

The single “A Guy” is released alongside “Beautiful”, another previously unreleased track from the same period, together marking the latest chapter in the evolving sound of Young Juvenile Youth.

This project offers a rare glimpse into the full spectrum of Yuki Matsuda’s creativity. As an artist who seamlessly integrates music, words, and visuals, NIGEMIZU stands as both a culmination and a new beginning.

みなさま、新年、あけましておめでとうございます。本年も、よろしくお願い申し上げます ; )
今年は十二支の「巳(ヘビ)」の年。蛇といえば、中東で生まれた預言者たちの話では、人間を惑わし、堕落に導いた狡猾さの象徴ですが、ここ日本では神の使いとされています。国が変われば、見方も変わる。面白いものです。
また、今年は、60年に１度の「乙巳(きのとみ)」と呼ばれる年とのこと。新たな成長と飛躍の年とされているそうです。これまでの努力や準備が実を結びはじめ、勢いを増していく年、幸運に導かれる年になるんだとか。
実り多き年となりますように！

This year marks the Year of the Snake in the Chinese zodiac. Snakes, as you may know, are often seen as cunning symbols of temptation and downfall in the stories of prophets from the Middle East. However, in Japan, snakes are revered as messengers of the gods. It’s fascinating how perspectives shift across cultures.
Additionally, this year is said to be the Kinoto-mi (乙巳) year, which only occurs once every 60 years. It is considered a time for new growth and leaps forward. This year is believed to bring the fruition of past efforts and preparations, gaining momentum and leading to good fortune.

Here’s to a year full of growth and abundance!
