Established in 2012, BLOW UP PRESS is a boutique style publishing house focused on contemporary photography, known from such publications as doc! photo magazine (quarterly mook dedicated to contemporary documentary photography) and DEBUTS (yearly publication presenting the most talented emerging Polish photographers).

A lovely note to have received this week. ❤️

BINOM by Nata Nata Drachinskaya has been featured by Contemporary Lynx in “Beyond the Spotlight: Five Projects Worth Your Attention at the Rencontres d’Arles 2026”, Grazynka’s selection of projects that deserve a closer look during this year’s festival.

Siedlecka describes BINOM as a deeply touching project rooted in a personal family story - one that gradually unfolds into a much broader story of secrecy, ideology, memory and the hidden layers of the past. We are particularly happy to see BINOM recognised in this context - as the winner of the LUMA Rencontres Dummy Book Award in 2025 and, notably, the only photobook mentioned in this selection of projects worth seeking out in Arles. ATLAS LAB Masterclass with BLOW UP PRESS

When the Story Becomes a Book

What makes a story become a book? Not every body of work needs one. But when it does, the book should emerge from the story itself – not the other way around.

This masterclass invites photographers, artists and visual storytellers to rethink projects in development through the lenses of editing, sequencing, book design and publishing. Together, we will ask what the work is really about, whose perspective it represents, and how photographs, texts, archives, documents and other visual materials can come together to create a meaningful book.

Organised by Reminders Photography Stronghold, the programme brings together BLOW UP PRESS's story-driven approach to photobook making with RPS's long-standing experience in project development, editing and the ethics of representation.

If you’re in New York this summer, make sure to visit Photobooks USA 2000–2025 exhibition at the Int'l Center of Photography International Center of Photography.

Bringing together more than 50 landmark photobooks published over the last 25 years, the exhibition explores how photographers and publishers have used the book form to respond to the social, political, cultural and environmental changes shaping the United States. It is a celebration of the photobook as one of the most inventive and powerful storytelling mediums of our time.

While none of our books are on view 😢, we’re genuinely delighted that BLOW UP PRESS is present in a different way. Among the exhibition materials is a quote by our Art Director and book designer, Aneta Kowalczyk 🤩:

„For me, a photobook is a living form that, like a narrator, is capable of telling a story. Apart from that, it is an artistic object itself that has nothing to do with, for example, a catalogue presenting images one after another.”

We couldn’t imagine a better summary of the philosophy that guides our work every day.

We’re delighted to share that our photobook ONCE A YEAR THE STICK SHOOTS has been featured in the article „Human, Space, Past. 5 Photobooks You Need to See”.

„Created by Polish photographer Natalia Wiernik and Ukrainian artist Nastasiia Leliuk, the publication explores how war transforms and reshapes our perception of images, language, and symbols. The title refers to an English verb that carries two distinct meanings: to fire a gun and to sprout, as a plant does. This duality lies at the heart of the book’s narrative - a story about violence and about life that persists despite it. (...) The publication’s concept is reinforced by its physical form: the book has been pierced all the way through, with a hole at its centre resembling the trace left by a bullet. It becomes a damaged object, a witness to violence. Through their project, the artists seek to restore meaning to images that have lost their innocence under the impact of war.”

Damn, Arles, you were hot 🔥 Literally.

The Provençal sun did its absolute best to slow us down, but it never stood a chance.

Last week was everything we love about photobooks packed into a few unforgettable days: the launch of BINOM (check the link in bio), two inspiring panel discussions, book signings at the Arles Books Fair and at (❤️), countless conversations, old friends, new faces, and the kind of beautiful chaos that reminds us why we do what we do.

It was also delicious. Because no trip to Arles is complete without the legendary thyme ice cream (the one you can only get here 🍦🌿) and our traditional, completely spontaneous BUP Oysters Party to celebrate another edition of the fair. 🦪🥂

A huge thank you to Nata for trusting us with BINOM, and congratulations once again on winning the 2025 LUMA Rencontres Dummy Book Award.
