Singapore Art Book Fair

The Singapore Art Book Fair was a truly experimental event, and each day brought a fresh sense of excitement. We were joined by Mami Takahashi as a communicator; thanks to her, everything from introductions to travel went smoothly—and we even received a helping hand from a tiny "new staff member" along the way.

The "My Book ⇄ Something Yours" project by Reina Takabayashi—where visitors exchanged personal items for books—was a great success, and it looks like we’ll be able to create another wonderful SGABF-edition book out of it.

During the radio program, Son Ni from nos books recommended DOOKS as a must-visit booth, and fellow exhibitors took the time to carefully look through our books and share thoughtful feedback. These kinds of rich, meaningful interactions—unique to this fair—made for a truly fulfilling experience. It was an event that prompted me to reflect once again on the significance of creating a space for connection.

SINGAPORE ART BOOK FAIR、実験精神に溢れたフェアで、連日新鮮な気持ちで参加できました。今回はコミュニケーターとして高橋真美さんに参加いただき、おかげさまでスムーズな紹介と安心の渡航を、途中小さな新しいスタッフ？にも助けられました。

イベント来場者の持ち物と本を交換する、「My Book ⇄ Something Yours」高林怜奈さんによるプロジェクトも盛況で、また新しくSGABF版の良い本が出来そうです。

ラジオ企画では、nos booksのSon Niが、おすすめのブースとしてDOOKSを紹介してくれたり、一緒に参加されている方々がじっくりと本を見て良いコメントをくださったりと、今回のフェアならではの贅沢なやり取りが沢山あって、とても充実した良い時間になりました。あらためて場作りについて考えるきっかけにもなったフェアでした。

This is a continuous art project that DOOKS supports, exchanging the book “My Book ⇄ Something Yours” with participants of the event to make a new book for the next exchange. The book covers the past performance that was held in Taipei Art Book Fair.

Lena Takabayashi　高林怜奈
Tokyo-based artist born and raised in Nagano, Japan. She studied abroad at National Taiwan University in 2022 for a semester. She graduated from Tyler School of Art and earned her BA in 2024.
While Takabayashi is a multimedia artist, she is close-knit with her camera. Her work ranges from flat sheets of paper to sculptural 3D forms. Her major interest, the idea of boundary, is represented through those flexible visual outcomes. Takabayashi often makes zines about her works and distributes them at zine events. Her interest in distribution is derived from her attempt to gauge relationships with anyone who is involved in her life.
長野出身で東京在住のアーティスト。2022年に国立台湾大学へ１学期間交換留学をした。2024年にタイラー・スクール・オブ・アートを卒業し、学士号を取得。
様々なメディアを使用するが、特にカメラとは密接な関係にある。作品は平面から立体まで、様々な範囲に及ぶ。主要な関心である自他の境界が、それらの幅広い視覚表現を通して象徴される。しばしば作品についてのzineを制作し、即売イベントで頒布している。頒布に関する興味は、その度に出会う人々との関係性を測るための試みである。

For my wife "Yoshiko san"

手のひらサイズの小さな本 "For my child"（2022）を元に、小俣裕祐さんからのオーダーで、For my wife "Yoshiko san" を制作しました。小俣さんが撮影した、奥さんへの愛ある制作風景をまとめた写真集です。当初の子供とのやり取りから生まれた本のコンセプトと同じく、世界に1冊だけしか存在しない、1対1の関係によって生まれたものです。

フィンランドのヘルシンキにて開催されるアートブックフェア「Under The Leaf」にて、イラストレーションとドローイングにフォーカスした展示が開催されます。TOKYO ART BOOK FAIRにお声がけいただき、DOOKSからは横山雄『BODYCOAST』を出品します。

An exhibition focusing on illustration and drawing will be held at the “Under The Leaf” art book fair in Helsinki, Finland. We were invited by the TOKYO ART BOOK FAIR, and DOOKS will be exhibiting Yu Yokoyama’s "BODYCOAST".
