We almost couldn’t enter Indonesia 😅

When we arrived in Bintan, we realized something we didn’t plan for…

Visa on arrival is CASH ONLY.

No credit cards.
And there’s no ATM near customs.

We thought we were fine because we planned to pay everything by card at the resort.

Luckily we still had $130 SGD in cash, which was just enough to pay the visa fee.

That was a close one.

A few other things that surprised me taking the ferry from Singapore to Bintan:

• The ferry process feels almost like airport travel
• Economy seats are first come first serve
• Resorts have very smooth shuttle pickup at the terminal
• Off-season beaches feel almost private

The ferry ride itself is less than 1 hour, which makes Bintan one of the easiest international weekend trips from Singapore.

Our trip:
Friday evening → Sunday afternoon
7 people ≈ $1700 SGD

Honestly one of the least stressful family trips we’ve done.

I was about to break the door myself — you can see it in the video.
But ChatGPT and Google made me pause.

Turns out, common design flaws are host responsibility.
If you force it and cause damage, that’s when you pay.

We contacted the host.
They arranged a handyman.
We didn’t pay anything.
