How to Shoot Product Videos with Just an iPhone & CapCut
Here is how I shot a dynamic product video for the Nivea Black and White Deodorant using only an iPhone 17 Pro and a magnetic tripod, edited right on my phone in CapCut.
The Setup & Shoot:
1. Reflective Base: Place your product on a partially reflective surface, like a closed laptop lid, against a clean backdrop.
2. Cinematic Push-In: Switch your iPhone to Cinematic mode. Turn the phone upside down for a low angle and slowly push in toward the product.
3. Macro Orbit: Switch back to standard Video mode. Turn on Macro mode for a tight close-up and slowly orbit the camera around the product's anti-stain features.
4. Human Element: Add a natural interaction by reaching out and grabbing the product away from the set.
5. Slow-Mo Action: Mount your phone on a magnetic tripod. Switch to Slow-Mo mode (using the 2x lens) and record a close-up of yourself activating the product, like twisting the cap or spraying it.
The Edit:
Once you have your shots, it's time to bring it all together. Drop the clips into CapCut. Professional editing requires precise trimming, so trim out the shaky parts at the start and end of each clip. Add sound effects, layer in some background music, and apply speed ramps to give the video that fast-paced energy.
