BUILT TO WITHSTAND preached by Ptr. Marlon Catorce

"24 Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock. 25 And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock.

26 And everyone who hears these words of mine and does not do them will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand. 27 And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell, and great was the fall of it.”

1️⃣ THE TWO BUILDERS (A Contrast in Choices)
• A wise builder acts, while a foolish builder poorly practices God's command.

2️⃣ THE TEST OF STORMS (Life's Uncertainties)
• Houses built on solid rock stand deeper and are less likely to be swept away by a storm than houses built on sand.
• We apply the wisdom we gain today.

3️⃣ THE TRUE FOUNDATION (Obedience yo Christ)
• We find it easy to follow God, but we rarely obey him.
• We are strong externally, but weak on the inside.
• Supporting Verse: Psalms 18:2 🔖

4️⃣ THE TRAGIC CONSEQUENCES (Ignoring Jesus Words)
• There's no middle-ground when it comes to God, it's either we obey or disobey Him.
• We must take small, wise steps to establish a strong foundation if we are serious about building our faith on Jesus.

𝑱𝒖𝒏𝒆 28𝒕𝒉, 2025

💭 We engage intensely with spiritual activities and practices in the realm of our Faith Journey with Christ that we lack adequate rest, which hinders our ability to effectively pursue our mission to God.

📌 Do followers of Jesus experience Spiritual Burnout?

‭‭📕 Reading through 1 𝐊𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐬 19 it says,
“Now Ahab told Jezebel everything Elijah had done and how he had killed all the prophets with the sword. So Jezebel sent a messenger to Elijah to say, “May the gods deal with me, be it ever so severely, if by this time tomorrow I do not make your life like that of one of them.”

Elijah was afraid and ran for his life. When he came to Beersheba in Judah, he left his servant there, while he himself went a day’s journey into the wilderness. He came to a broom bush, sat down under it and prayed that he might die. “I have had enough, Lord,” he said. “Take my life; I am no better than my ancestors.” Then he lay down under the bush and fell asleep."

📌 What are the Symptoms of Leadership Burnout?

‭‭📕 𝐉𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐡 4:8 ‭‬‬ ‭‬‬says,
“When the sun rose, God provided a scorching east wind, and the sun blazed on Jonah’s head so that he grew faint. He wanted to die, and said, “It would be better for me to die than to live.”

• 𝑱𝒐𝒏𝒂𝒉 𝒉𝒂𝒔 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒄𝒉𝒐𝒊𝒄𝒆: 𝒕𝒐 𝒉𝒂𝒗𝒆 𝒉𝒊𝒔 𝒆𝒎𝒐𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏𝒂𝒍 𝒓𝒆𝒔𝒑𝒐𝒏𝒔𝒆 𝒕𝒐 𝒖𝒏𝒄𝒆𝒓𝒕𝒂𝒊𝒏𝒕𝒚 𝒐𝒓 𝒕𝒐 𝒃𝒆 𝒔𝒕𝒊𝒍𝒍, 𝒌𝒏𝒐𝒘𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝑮𝒐𝒅'𝒔 𝒔𝒐𝒗𝒆𝒓𝒆𝒊𝒈𝒏𝒕𝒚 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒎𝒆𝒓𝒄𝒚 𝒂𝒓𝒆 𝒂𝒕 𝒘𝒐𝒓𝒌.

🔥We should prioritize seeking help and finding healthier ways to recharge. Self-care nourishes our body and mind, allowing them to recover and create a safer space for sustainable re-adjustment of our faith-approach.

As followers of Jesus, the more intense the spiritual engagements, the more prone we are to spiritual burnout. We may fail to acknowledge our need for rest, however God wants us to reconnect ourselves more to the real purpose of serving Him in a healthier and sustainable way, without sacrificing self-care 💓

[7] I was forty years old when Moses the servant of the Lord sent me from Kadesh Barnea to explore the land. And I brought him back a report according to my convictions, [8] but my fellow Israelites who went up with me made the hearts of the people melt in fear. I, however, followed the Lord my God wholeheartedly. [9] So on that day Moses swore to me, ‘The land on which your feet have walked will be your inheritance and that of your children forever, because you have followed the Lord my God wholeheartedly.’

[10] “Now then, just as the Lord promised, he has kept me alive for forty-five years since the time he said this to Moses, while Israel moved about in the wilderness. So here I am today, eighty-five years old! [11] I am still as strong today as the day Moses sent me out; I’m just as vigorous to go out to battle now as I was then.

[12] Now give me this hill country that the Lord promised me that day. 1️⃣ CHALLENGE TO CONFRONT
• Fear causes Failure.
• Do not reserve ourselves for serving the one who can provide preservation for our lives.

2️⃣ CHARACTER TO CREATE
• What character does Caleb have? He is strong, courageous, and confident.
• Our character should be paralleled with our talents - BALANCE DAPAT!

3️⃣ CONSEQUENCE TO CONSIDER
• We must pay what is owed, but salvation is freely given. We only need to receive it.
• Do we still carry those excess baggage? This is God's way of saying to you and me, "Let it all go and know that He is God."
