🇯🇵 Why You Shouldn’t Skip this city in Japan 🙅🏻‍♀️

(Unless You Hate Castles, Cute Streets & Noodles 🍜)

📍Matsumoto, Japan

This underrated city has everything ⬇️

🏯 A literal samurai castle (yes, Matsumoto Castle is the real deal - black, moody, and majestic).

🐸 A street full of frogs (and snacks) - Nawate Dori, aka Frog Street, is as weird and wonderful as it sounds.

🍶 Soba so good it might change your life.

🚞 Oh, and did we mention the easy day trip to Narai?

It’s a preserved Edo-era town straight out of a Japanese anime 😍

✨ If you want to visit somewhere other than the usual 3 cities in Japan, we highly recommend adding Matsumoto to your trip 👏🏻

It shouldn’t come as a surprise that we eat dessert for basically every single meal 💁🏻‍♀️

This is pretty much EVERYTHING we did in Kyoto 🥰

1. Looking for cherry blossoms? Take a stroll through Maruyamam Park. We visited in July and still managed to spot some! 🌸
2. Starbucks ☕️ ya know we can’t resist a white chocolate mocha or caramel frappe but believe it or not, that’s not why we visited this specific Starbucks! Take off your shoes and enjoy your coffee on a traditional tatami mat!
3. Higashiyama District - after your Starbies take a stroll through this traditional area of Kyoto 🎌
4. Kiyomizu-dera Temple. For us Kyoto was all about exploring different temples and their gardens, and the gardens here are HUGE! 🌳
5. It’s already snack time. Pick up some donuts from the viral koé donuts 🍩
6. Kinkaku-ji temple. It’s GOLD 🏅
7. Hehe we love snacks. We’ve been to Kinkaku-ji temple twice and both times we’ve picked up a matcha-vanilla swirl 🍦
8. Fushimi Inari Taisha Shrine - probably what everyone thinks of when they picture Kyoto and you absolutely cannot skip it! 🦊
9. Arashiyama Bamboo Forest 🎋The forest itself wasn’t as dense as we expected but the gardens won us over!
10. Micasadeco & Cafe - the BEST fluffy soufflé pancakes in Japan 🥞
11. If you didn’t already know, Stace is totally obsessed with Pokemon, so of course we stopped off at the Kyoto Pokemon Centre!
12. Chao Chao Gyoza 🥟 If you’re looking for traditional gyoza then don’t come here lol 😂 This place has some of the most random, MOST DELICIOUS gyoza we’ve ever had! *hint* you have to get the chocolate gyoza!

Here are our TOP 9 Things to do in OSAKA, Japan 🇯🇵

1. Shinsekai 🔮 Known as the ‘New World’ this area is somehow futuristic and retro at the same time?! 🤯

2. Ebisu Ferris Wheel 🎡 An Icon that you literally can not miss in Osaka! Be sure to check out the HUGE Don Quijote attached to it!

3. Street food tour 🍡 Osaka is known for its food so this is something you HAVE to do!

4. Dotonbori - the neon lights, vintage signs and vibrant atmosphere! ⚡️Visit early morning for photos but be sure to come back at night!

5. Round1 Stadium 🏀 in our opinion, an absolute must do! Perfect if you’ve got a few hours to spare, on the basketball court, soccer pitch, batting cage or arcade 🕹️

6. Osaka Castle 🏯Tick off this historic landmark and enjoy the gardens 🌳

7. TeamLab Botanical Garden 🌈 The only immersive, outdoor art exhibition we’ve been to 📸

8. Universal Studios Osaka 🎢 Three words: SO. MUCH. FUN!

No lie… I dream about number 8 😭

There are SO MANY different types of desserts to try in Tokyo, but we’ve narrowed our favourites down to a Top 10 Tokyo MUST-TRY Sweet Treats 🇯🇵

1. Fried sandwich. Yep, you read that right… FRIED! Whether you fancy sweet or savoury, they’ve got you covered. We had the creme brûlée one and all I can say is zwlscsovreobgvwkvflvlbgbo 🤤
2. The animal crepe. Almost too cute to eat… Almost.😏
3. Kakkigori 🍧 It’s shaved ice with delicious, fresh toppings of your choice. We got the strawberry topping and I’m not exaggerating when I say that it changed our lives 🍓
4. Harajuku crepes. They’re a tourist’s right of passage. You’re either walking down Takesh*ta street with a crepe in your hand or a huge rainbow fairy floss 🌈 There’s enough rainbow between us so we chose crepe 😂
5. Custom 3D coffee art ☕️ We’ve put this one on the list not necessarily for its taste, but rather its appearance. Here you can customise the foam on your coffee. You can request whatever your heart desires! We saw Pokemon, anime characters, and even beloved pets ❤️
6. Daifuku, whether you have a sweet tooth or not, Daifuku is a dessert that is perfect for everyone. The level of sweetness is juuuuuuuust right 🤌
7. Pretty much anything from Tokyo Disney, but in this case, the Minnie ice bar 🧊
8. Green Alien Mochi from Tokyo Disney… worth the airfare to Japan, trust us ✈️
9. Matcha ice-cream. You haven’t visited Japan if you’ve not tried something Matcha flavoured, that’s just a fact. If you’re not too sure on whether or not it’s for you, try a vanilla/matcha swirl ice cream 🍦
10. Butter beer from the Harry Potter Studio Tour in Tokyo 🍺

2024 - The year of new countries, different cultural celebrations, overseas group trips, falling in love with van life, living in Japan (AND LOVING IT), openings of new Disney areas (miss you Fantasy Springs), enjoying family time in Australia AND Ireland, aaaannnddd… the budget running out 😂

🎄 Happy Holidays 🎄

The festive period is probably our favourite time of the year!

From setting up the tree, watching festive movies and baking sugar cookies 🍪 we really savour all the festive moments ☕️

This time last year we spent had a magical day in the concrete jungle 🗽 It was freezing cold and felt like we were in a movie ❄️

Today we spent it close to loved ones 💕 it was boiling hot and made us feel very lucky ☘️
