数年前より翻訳に取り組んでいました「建築という芸術 評伝フランク・ゲーリー」の日本語訳が刊行される運びとなりました。
「ニューヨーク・タイムズ」紙で長く活躍し、ピュリッツァー賞を受賞した建築評論家ポール・ゴールドバーガー氏による建築家フランク・ゲーリーの生涯と建築を綴った壮大な物語です。

New Book Release!
Japanese Translation of "Building Art: The Life and Work of Frank Gehry" by Paul Goldberger, Translated by Kazuko Sakamoto (Kajima Publishing)

I am pleased to announce the publication of the Japanese translation of "Building Art: The Life and Work of Frank Gehry," which I worked on for several years.
It is an epic story of the life and architecture of architect Frank Gehry, written by architecture critic Paul Goldberger, a long-time New York Times architecture critic and a Pulitzer Prize winner.
It will be in bookstores later this week and is also available for pre-order on Amazon in Japan.

Archeology of the Future /Tsuyoshi Tane (TOTO Publishing)　now on sale!
Translated Paris-based Japanese architect Tsuyoshi Tane’s first monograph.
The book comprising 5 chapters (Manifesto/Concepts/Images/Drawings/Timeline) introduces Tane’s 17 projects from the Estonian National Museum (2006-2016) to the Hirosaki Contemporary Art Museum (2017-ongoing). His architecture is founded on rich stories transcending past, present and future––hope you enjoy reading the stories as well as immersing yourselves in the beautiful images.

窓研究所ウェブサイト連載「茶室の窓」最終回:賞花亭
建築家・三井嶺氏が「窓」を切り口として茶室を分析する連載記事の最終回は、「賞花亭」。
利休による茶の湯の成立以前から自由に茶を楽しんでいた貴族たち。桂離宮に点在する四季を楽しむ４軒の茶屋のうち、春の花を愛でる「賞花亭」はほとんど壁がないオープンな草庵。貴族たちが庶民のように「田舎の素朴な茶屋で一服」する気分を楽しむために建てたそうです。下地窓と土壁の関係に要注目です。この素晴らしい連載、残念ながら最終回です。ぜひごらんください。(日英テキスト翻訳：坂本和子）
“Windows in Japanese Tearooms” Part3: Shokatei at Katsura Imperial Palace / Window Research Institute website
The final part of Rei Mitsui’s serial article analyzing windows in Japanese tearooms is now on view. In Part 3, Mitsui takes us for an idyllic stroll around a beautiful garden at Katsura Imperial Palace. Among the four tea houses built to enjoy each of the four seasons, Shokatei is a rustic open hut designed to appreciate spring flowers. Mitsui focuses on the relationship between earth walls and “sh*taji-mado” and discusses his “mitate” that the earthen wall represents “void.” Hope you will enjoy the final part of this insightful serial article.
