The autumn fever continues 🍁🍂

Autumn feels more serene. The cool breeze of winter that is yet to start, clear skies and warm hues of yellow, orange and red. It warms the heart talaga 💕

We have seen spring and winter din but autumn hits different. When we saw the sakuras, I said I’m a spring kind of girl. 🌸

After autumn, I feel like I’m actually an autumn girl. 🍁 Pero to be very accurate, I think I’m an all-weather Japan girlie (and always my hubby’s girl ayyy) 🤣

P.s. Picture in the park is at Noritake Garden in Nagoya. It’s a public park 🍂

Delawan!

Dilaw na dilaw. Literal. Ganda dito guys. This was taken in a college garden sa Nagoya. Alam mo naman mga tito at tita nyo, posing agad.

We are channeling here the “looking at the bright future ahead” kind of pose. Lakas maka album cover. 🤣

Nasaktuhan din namin na may collegiate basket ball during that day. Mahilig din pala sila sa basketball dahil dinadala nila mga family nila with them. Tapos may pafood truck pa ganun. Amazing! Di nalang namin napicturan due to privacy kasi baka paghinalaan pa kame. You know haha.

Galing din pumosing ni wifey. Mowdel!!

Ayun. Ganda lang 🙂 it was all yellow..🎶🎶

🌸 Sakura spots in Kyoto 🌸

We loved Kyoto the most when we visited last spring. Some spots are indeed crowded but the overall traditional and chill vibes of Kyoto took our breaths away. Here are the places where we saw the Sakura when we visited last spring:

📍Philosopher’s path - the best sakura viewing spot for us 🌸
📍Kiyomizu-dera Temple - super crowded in the afternoon. Make sure to check out the udon shop at the foot of the temple when you visit 😉
📍Arashiyama Park - close to the famous bamboo forest. Intentionally or not, some visitors miss this out after visiting the bamboo forest. Don’t make that mistake especially during spring 🌸 farther down the park is the Togetsukyo bridge where you can enjoy a cup of coffee in front of Katsura River
📍Nijo Castle - there pretty blooms here not just the sakura 🌸
📍Tenryuji Temple - One of the most magical sakura views we had, too!

Unlike Tokyo and Osaka, going around Kyoto is mostly by bus. You can easily pay via any IC card (Suica, Icoca etc). Best time to visit these locations would be early in the morning before the crowds flock in.

And as always, take time to slow down and enjoy the view 🌸

If you’re travelling to Japan and chasing sakuras, please just enjoy them without touching. It’s not only considered rude, but it’s for other travellers to also enjoy the view. Sakuras are so fragile and only lives for a short while ✨🙏🏻

🌸 Sakura Spots in Tokyo 🌸

We’re in the midst of planning a new adventure but I just miss Japan. Anyway, news says that cherry blossoms will bloom in Tokyo next week 💓 It’s around the same time we were in Tokyo last year.

Here are the free spots were we saw Sakuras in full bloom in Tokyo 🌸

📍Bunka Gakuen Costume Museum - saw this long lane of Sakura trees on the bus home from Fuji
📍 Sophia Dori St. - near Yotsuya station on the way to Suga Shrine, which is the inspiration behind a location in the anime Your Name (if you know, you know 🫢)
📍Yoyogi Park - my favorite Sakura view in Tokyo. It felt like a dream 🥹
📍Ueno Park - long line of Sakura trees

Tip: Try to visit early to avoid the crowd. We were at Yoyogi Park around 8am and there was no crowd. They flock in at around 9am.

There are night illuminations in Tokyo like the one in Shinjuku Gyoen. We did not try na because we are already happy with what we saw.

Will share about the Sakura spots in Kyoto and Osaka some other time. In the meantime, I’ll dream about sakuras tonight 🥺🌸

📍Banh Mi Manila

Vietnamese food trip after a long, long, time and it did not disappoint. Personally, nadethrone nito yung ramen sa #1 spot sa noodle and soup category on my food list (although ramen is still #1 for my ramen boy hubby).

Yung pho, ang clean and light ng flavor. Hindi lasang msg. 😂 We both tried the chicken pho and beef pho. Mas masarap yung beef pho!

Yung banh mi nila, very subtle lang yung hint ng celery, not too overpowering. We tried the chicken lemon grass and pulled pork, both masarap 💓

Yung spring roll super fresh and ang sarap ng peanut sauce. Yung Vietnamese coffee drip din is one of the best we’ve tried. ✨

Yung first time namin to try Viet food somewhere was kind of traumatic because the flavors were too strong. Buti na lang it’s sweeter the 2nd time around.💓

Price here is very reasonable din. Around 1600 for 2 na ito na may 2 banhmi, 2 na pho, spring rolls and iced coffee. Could have been lesser if yung combo ang naorder namin sana.

The space is small. You need to reserve if you want to visit. Street parking only. Nasa residential area sya so medyo mahirap makita but google maps location is accurate naman.

So ang tanong, babalikan ba? It’s a big YES for us ❤️

Not a paid review ☺️

We went back to Japan for our revenge winter trip last December and our first stop was Yokohama!❤️

When we went on spring of last year, hubby vowed to return because he wants to try the Ieken Ramen native to Yokohama at Yoshimuraya Ramen 🤣 I’m glad we returned!

At least for us, Yokohama is all about the Gundam Factory that’s why we only did a day tour on our first time there. But Yokohama is so much more pala. Super nice to stay here for a day or two to at least get a feel of the city.

For our two nights stay, we visited:

✨ The Chinatown in Yokohama - will dedicate a separate post for all the food we tried but super sarap lahat. Kahit Milk Tea 🤣 (free entrance)

✨ Yamash*ta Park - you’ll see here a ship docketed by the bay (free entrance)

✨ Osanbashi Pier - super magical at night and during Christmas because of the illumination. You’ll see the lit Yokohama bay here (free entrance)

✨ Sankeien Garden - this is the first time we had a beautiful Japanese park almost all to ourselves. This is very interesting because it housed a lot of Japanese artifact like a Gassho style house native to Shirakawa-go and a Pagoda originally from Kyoto. On a good day, you’ll even see Fuji-san from a viewing deck here (¥700 entrance fee)

✨ World Porters - this is a mall in Yokohama. We don’t usually visit malls during trips but because it was super cold and we had time to kill, we visited this one. In the afternoon, you can see cable cars moving to and from Minato-mirai (free entrance)

✨ Red Brick Warehouse - you’ll get to see old building giving off European vibes here. Inside there are interesting shops. May Christmas market din sila for the season ☺️ (¥500 entrance fee for the Christmas market)

✨ We did a day trip to Kamakura to see the Slam Dunk video spot. Will share separately! Kamakura is closer to Yokohama so we visited from here.

Where we stayed:
🏠 Yokohama Hostel Village Hayashi Kaikan - 3 nights for ₱4,000.00 only BUT this is best for backpackers. If you want a relaxing and cozy stay in Yokohama, we do not recommend. If you are just looking for a place to sleep at night, go for it. Super liit ng room but with heater, refrigerator and TV. Bathroom is shared. Close to a JR line station.

Worked for us but might not work for all travelers 😊

Unpopular opinion: We enjoyed Yokohama better than Osaka, especially Chinatown versus Dotonbori 😄

The usual question we ask ourselves when we visit places is “babalikan ba?” It’s a big YES for Yokohama. Super chill ng vibes but you get a taste of the city still.
