We went back to Japan for our revenge winter trip last December and our first stop was Yokohama!❤️
When we went on spring of last year, hubby vowed to return because he wants to try the Ieken Ramen native to Yokohama at Yoshimuraya Ramen 🤣 I’m glad we returned!
At least for us, Yokohama is all about the Gundam Factory that’s why we only did a day tour on our first time there. But Yokohama is so much more pala. Super nice to stay here for a day or two to at least get a feel of the city.
For our two nights stay, we visited:
✨ The Chinatown in Yokohama - will dedicate a separate post for all the food we tried but super sarap lahat. Kahit Milk Tea 🤣 (free entrance)
✨ Yamash*ta Park - you’ll see here a ship docketed by the bay (free entrance)
✨ Osanbashi Pier - super magical at night and during Christmas because of the illumination. You’ll see the lit Yokohama bay here (free entrance)
✨ Sankeien Garden - this is the first time we had a beautiful Japanese park almost all to ourselves. This is very interesting because it housed a lot of Japanese artifact like a Gassho style house native to Shirakawa-go and a Pagoda originally from Kyoto. On a good day, you’ll even see Fuji-san from a viewing deck here (¥700 entrance fee)
✨ World Porters - this is a mall in Yokohama. We don’t usually visit malls during trips but because it was super cold and we had time to kill, we visited this one. In the afternoon, you can see cable cars moving to and from Minato-mirai (free entrance)
✨ Red Brick Warehouse - you’ll get to see old building giving off European vibes here. Inside there are interesting shops. May Christmas market din sila for the season ☺️ (¥500 entrance fee for the Christmas market)
✨ We did a day trip to Kamakura to see the Slam Dunk video spot. Will share separately! Kamakura is closer to Yokohama so we visited from here.
Where we stayed:
🏠 Yokohama Hostel Village Hayashi Kaikan - 3 nights for ₱4,000.00 only BUT this is best for backpackers. If you want a relaxing and cozy stay in Yokohama, we do not recommend. If you are just looking for a place to sleep at night, go for it. Super liit ng room but with heater, refrigerator and TV. Bathroom is shared. Close to a JR line station.
Worked for us but might not work for all travelers 😊
Unpopular opinion: We enjoyed Yokohama better than Osaka, especially Chinatown versus Dotonbori 😄
The usual question we ask ourselves when we visit places is “babalikan ba?” It’s a big YES for Yokohama. Super chill ng vibes but you get a taste of the city still.
