An Open Letter to All Mistresses
I do not fault you for falling for him. Feelings are unpredictable—they strike without warning and take root even where they never should. Loving someone is not inherently wrong.
However, the harm begins the moment you know he is married and decide to stay. You cannot control how you feel, but you always control what you choose to do. You were fully aware. You saw the wedding ring. You heard the excuses and lies.
You witnessed another woman slowly falling apart, yet you settled comfortably inside a life that was never yours. When this chapter closes, do not expect sympathy or respect for the role you played. Being the other woman is never something to be proud of.
No young girl ever dreams of growing up to be the reason another woman cannot sleep at night. I do not say this because I am perfect; I am speaking out against the choice you made. Deep down, you knew exactly what was right, yet you deliberately chose the path that causes destruction.
Think about this: What if it was your sister whose husband was unfaithful? What if it was your best friend crying herself to sleep because of someone just like you? Worse yet, imagine your own child one day begging a stranger to stop tearing her family apart. Would it still feel like a romantic story then?
Do not claim you are a victim when you voluntarily stepped into this situation. No one forced or trapped you. You chose the secret calls, the hidden meetings, and the moments that could never see the light of day.
And please, do not mistake this for something admirable. There is nothing strong or impressive about finding joy while another person suffers. I am not a saint, and I am far from flawless. But there is one thing I know I will never do: build my life by breaking someone else’s home.
A few moments of attention are never worth ruining an entire family. The affection you receive is not true love—it is borrowed, temporary, and bound to end. Remember this: a man who is willing to cheat on his wife with you will eventually cheat on you too.
Keep this truth in mind: Real love does not exist in the shadows. Real love never demands another person’s pain just to exist. So before you convince yourself this is “love,” ask yourself honestly: If this was happening to you, would you still think it is beautiful?
