Distinguishing what's real or not in the virtual world will be so important that I think we need a technology that doesn't get fooled by deceptions caused by rampant misinformation and the relentless artificial generation of videos, photos, and words.

The last defense, of course, is properly educating oneself on how to distinguish what's real or not on the internet, but that is not sufficient because there are young, naive minds plugging into it without proper education. That is why a technological guard or consensus is a must.

We have the technology of gods in our hands now, but can our hands handle it?

What will get rarer, I think, in the coming years is the creation of human creative pursuits on a widespread scale. What always takes time to get done by human hands is a testament to human capability, to create things without artificial intervention.

Artists will get rarer. Keep creating, young ones.

Happy Weekend!

If you've watched or read Project Hail Mary, Cheolsu Saves the World, or The Three-Body Problem, you'll understand how fragile and unprepared we still are against extinction-level calamities. Even COVID in 2020 brought the world's economy to its knees. And if no one is working on the ideas with the potential to address great challenges in the future, we might be too late when a calamity hits us instantly.

"I cannot remember the books I've read any more than the meals I have eaten; even so, they have made me" - Ralph Waldo Emerson

I'll rephrase: I might not hit every goal I've set any more than I remember every meal I've eaten; even so, they have made me.
