Day 84 in Japan 🇯🇵✨

Another day in Ikebukuro! We found the cutest Akita 3D display 🐕, wandered through some shops, grabbed some delicious gyukatsu, and obviously had to make a stop at ME TOKYO. 🎮

Actually, we stopped twice. 😂 But it paid off because Dylan ended the night with a Sukuna figure from Jujutsu Kaisen! Sometimes you just have to know when to give the claw machine one more chance. 👀

Day 83 in Japan 🇯🇵✨

Just another night wandering around Shibuya and somehow finding a little bit of everything. 😂 We stumbled across a random scratch ticket giveaway, grabbed dinner at our forever-reliable Genki Sushi 🍣, tested our luck at the claw machines, and actually walked away with some wins!

Then we wandered through Shibuya PARCO, said hi to Mewtwo, stumbled across a light novel exhibition, and called it a night. 💛

You've probably seen this mochi show in Nara all over social media.

It looks super cool, but the reality is it only lasts about a minute and they try to move you along super fast. So is it worth it? Maybe on your first trip, but even then you aren't missing much.

My favorite mochi is still the ones you can get in the konbini with ice cream. 😋🤷‍♂️

We get it, it’s hard NOT to glaze Japan. 😂🇯🇵

And listen, we KNOW no country is perfect. Japan has its flaws just like anywhere else.

But as an American family experiencing Japan, exploring different areas, eating the food, learning the culture, and seeing just how beautiful everyday life can be, Japan really is THAT amazing.

At the same time, we know the Japan we experience isn’t necessarily the same Japan locals experience, and that difference is huge.

As foreigners, we get to enjoy so many of the things that make Japan incredible without necessarily experiencing the same challenges that come with growing up, working, and building your entire life here.

So yes, people are probably going to keep glazing Japan. 😂 Just understand which version of Japan is being glazed. 🇯🇵❤️

Day 82 in Japan 🇯🇵✨

Today was all about Jujutsu Kaisen! We headed to Sunshine City in Ikebukuro for a JJK exhibition and got a behind-the-scenes look at how the anime comes to life. Seeing the original sketches and animation process up close was beyond cool. 🎨

We couldn't film most of the exhibition, but it was definitely one of those experiences worth putting the camera away for.

Day 81 in Japan 🇯🇵🎆

Rain was definitely not going to stop this one. 😂 We started with AFURI Ramen and their incredible yuzu broth, which might officially be my favorite ramen we've had in Japan. 🍜

Then it was off to Odaiba for a Chainsaw Man themed fireworks show, complete with music from the movie. We ended the night absolutely drenched, but it was 100% worth standing in the rain for. 🎆⛓️

Days 79 & 80 in Japan 🇯🇵✨

After a much-needed recovery day from Tokyo Disneyland, we were back out exploring with visits to Ana-hachimangu Shrine and Hōrin-ji for more goshuins. ⛩️

Then it was Marugame Seimen Waseda for lunch and, of course, a trip to French Toast Factory for our favorite pancakes. 🥞💛
