多摩地区最大の乗降者数を持つJR立川駅、そして西武鉄道3駅に囲まれた立川。現在、南北につながる多摩モノレールも市内を縦断し、立川市は多摩地域の交通の要衝となりました。

国から首都圏「業務核都市」と位置づけられ広域的な都市機能も整備され、大型商業施設も数多く出店。約180haの敷地面積を持つ国営昭和記念公園が隣接し、多摩川が流れ、その生活環境は今や全国でも有数の近代都市へと発展を続けています。
