🥹 Are you looking for a Tokyo half-day itinerary that is accessible yet authentic? Then let me tell you my favorite!
💁🏻 When I moved to Tokyo some locals told me about these places, and I've been going ever since! These days it is a bit crowded on weekends, but it's still more of a hidden gem than the other places you've seen posted a million times, and it's still got a lot of OG Tokyo personality 😏
🚇 Arrive via subway to Nezu Station on the Chiyoda Line
⛩️ Nezu Shrine 根津神社 - One of the nicest shrines in central Tokyo! It's huge, has a lovely azalea garden, interesting architecture and colors, a row of small torii gates (like Kyoto!), and a nice lake with turtles. I keep coming back here!
🫘 Nezu Taiyaki 根津たい焼き- A Tokyo classic taiyaki, with an old-fashioned taste. Only open on weekends from 10 to 2, they actually close when ingredients run out. Find them on X
🐍 Hebi Michi aka snake streetへび道- a great street for a stroll! The winding road and chiq residential scenery is the perfect backdrop for cafe and boutique hopping. A local classic is and for Aussie coffee head to
🐱 Yanaka Ginza 谷中銀座- One of Tokyo's most famous shopping streets! Lots of retro flair mixed with updated shops, a cat theme, and a lot of street food. I got gelato from but you can't go wrong anywhere
🌇 Sunset Stairway (Yanaka Ginza Yuyake Dandan 夕やけだんだん on Google Maps) is at the end of Yanaka Ginza, a picturesque stairway any time of day but especially at sunset!
🚃 Take the train home from Nippori Station, on the Yamanote Line
