Diligence Pays Off

Diligence matters, and consistency yields results. If we keep putting off what we don’t want to do with the excuse that we’ll get to it later, later will never come. But doing little things with consistency will produce a harvest in time. Instead of leading with intensity, having to do everything at once, let’s look at the ways that we can consistently make progress each day.

Animals know what they need to do, and they do it. Squirrels do not harvest a winter’s store in a day. They do it for weeks and months leading up to the cold season. In the same way, when we know what we need to do and we work at it with consistency, we will have all we need when the cold season sets in. Let’s embrace the wisdom of the natural world and be diligent in important, even if small, ways.

Lord, thank you for the reminder of your principles in the natural world around me. Adjust my perspective when I begin to go off course and procrastinate. Help me to be consistent and build toward the vision and goals you have given me.

If prayer isn’t by the Spirit, then it isn’t truly prayer. The Holy Spirit wants to help you to pray. He is the One Who enables you to seek the face of God, the One Who graces you with the desire to know Jesus in greater depths.

Everything that is spiritual is by the Spirit. Prayer is no exception.

All prayer is initiated by the Holy Spirit. This, of course, does not mean that you cannot, of your own free will, approach the throne of God. This simply means that if there is a desire within you to seek the Lord, then it was the Holy Spirit Who helped to cultivate that desire within you.

One must be quickened before he can call upon the Lord.

“So will not we go back from thee: quicken us, and we will call upon thy name.” – Psalm 80:18 (KJV)

Prayer is a spiritual act, initiated and sustained by the work of the Holy Spirit. And only those who are living in the Spirit can truly be guided by the Holy Spirit in spiritual matters.

“But people who aren’t spiritual can’t receive these truths from God’s Spirit. It all sounds foolish to them and they can’t understand it, for only those who are spiritual can understand what the Spirit means.” – 1 Corinthians 2:14 (NLT)

The Holy Spirit helps you to pray by giving you the desire to pray, giving you the understanding to pray, and empowering you when you pray. The initiation, action, and results of prayer are all by the Holy Spirit.

It is by prayer that we involve God and exchange our weaknesses for His strength. It is in prayer that we yield to the will of God. It is in prayer that we become surrendered to the Holy Spirit.

Let the Holy Spirit give you the desire to pray. Follow His leading and let Him make you a person of prayer—one who lives in moment-by-moment divine fellowship.

Prayer is by the Spirit.

Surrender and find true freedom.

In the light of my life, you find true freedom. The ways of my kingdom are full of wisdom and clarity. The ways of this world will lead you to empty promises and unfulfilled hopes. Nothing will satisfy the heart that always reaches for the next thing instead of delighting in what it already has. If never-enough is the tune of your motivation, then, my child, it is time to recalibrate in my love.

Surrender to my kingdom ways, and you will find life’s meaning in my delight. Every question you have will find its answer in my limitless mercy. You cannot escape the power of my transformative love when I call you my own. So align your life with mine, and even when you can’t clearly understand my purposes, you will live in the fruit of my gracious heart. You see in part and know in part, but I see everything clearly. I am pure in wisdom and motive, and my mercy informs all that I do. You will find all your desires fulfilled in me—even ones you don’t know are driving your life. Trust me; I know you better than you know yourself.

There is no need to explain a thing to me, for I know you, inside and out. Don’t let fear keep you from accepting my untainted affection. Let down the walls and let me in. Even now, do you see that you already have my favor? There’s nothing to earn here. It’s all yours already. I promise that I am a tender and wise Counselor. Feast on my rich love that I lay out in plenty before you. There’s no need to wait on my cue. Just eat up whenever you like.
