Kaiseki specifically in Kyoto was a bucket list experience of mine during our Japan trip. Budget a lot of time because this meal took about 2 and 1/2 hours for us. Absolutely worth it though!

Even though this was considered a somewhat fancy meal, if you go at lunch time, prices are not too bad. We went to and prices started around $28 USD. The location was super convenient too, within walking distance of the Arashiyama Bamboo Forest and shrines.

A fun little travel vlog of me acting like a noob traveling in Japan for the first time. Lessons learned:

1️⃣ Don't over plan, yes you will want to look at everything and if you are like me, you will spend too long at Kuromon Market.
2️⃣ There is a lot of hype around and I wish I budgeted more time to wait in line for a seat inside. This is one of those places that always has a wait but don't be a pigeon and budget time.
3️⃣ Public transport is somewhat intuitive once you get the hang of it but it takes time to get the hang of it 😳
4️⃣ Thanks for another amazing tour where I can turn my brain for and see Kyoto Fushimi-Inari in a unique way. Check out for a meal right after, it's within walking distance!

It's hard not to overplan your Japan Itenirary, but I think it's a right of passage your first time. We actually cut a bunch of stuff out of this day if you can believe it 🤷🏻‍♀️

I can't be the only one that feels like in the chaos that is 2025, New Year's resolutions just don't work? What we do instead is pick one word that we are going to move our life towards. So no matter the situation or changes that happen in life, we can stay flexible. To make sure that our word is top of mind, I usually have an item that reminds me of the word or I write it down in a place that is visible to me every single day. Instead of the disappointment of trying something that doesn't work again, let's set ourselves up for success in 2026!
