What emerged from FKF president’s meeting with branch chairmen
FKF President Hussein Mohammed met branch chairmen at a Kasarani hotel last night, with the meeting focusing on the ongoing differences within the federation and the position of seven members of the National Executive Committee (NEC).
According to sources familiar with the meeting, the following key positions emerged:
1. No reconciliation with the seven NEC members
The President reportedly stated that his relationship with the seven NEC members had become untenable and that he could no longer work with or convene meetings with them. He is said to want them removed from office as soon as possible.
2. “Football must continue”
The President reportedly maintained that football activities must continue regardless of the ongoing legal proceedings and allegedly stated that he would not respect court orders that stop football activities going forward.
3. Mariga’s appointment
The President reportedly claimed that FKF Deputy President McDonald Mariga was not his preferred choice for the position, but was instead a government candidate imposed on him. He is said to want to choose his own Deputy President ASAP.
4. Central NEC member
The President reportedly singled out the NEC member representing Central Robert Macharia as the main issue among the seven, alleging that the member does not have the interests of Kenyan football at heart.
5. SGM to remove the seven
The President reportedly called on branch chairmen to initiate the process of convening a Special General Meeting (SGM) to consider the removal of the seven NEC members.
6. June signatures to be used
It was reportedly stated that there would be no fresh collection of signatures from branch chairmen, with the signatures appended in June 2026 expected to be relied upon in the process of convening the proposed SGM (FIFA had advised FKF to stop the process and give reconciliation a chance)
7. “There is only one FKF President”
The President reportedly emphasized that he would not bow to pressure, stating that “there is only one FKF President.”
The developments come amid an ongoing dispute within FKF, with the proposed SGM potentially becoming the next major point of focus in the federation’s leadership dispute.
