Very soon, we will review our 2010 Constitution, and one key issue will be term limits. Five years is too short for leaders to fully deliver on their mandate. A seven-year term gives enough time to plan, implement, and complete projects without the constant disruption of campaigns.
Elections every five years also cost billions. By extending terms, we save resources and channel them into development and service delivery. A longer term will also end the culture of early campaigning, bring political stability, and give Kenya the continuity needed for sustainable progress.
This initiative is about stability, development, and the future of our nation. At the same time, we must entrench the office of Prime Minister to strengthen governance and inclusivity.

The city lawyer shot dead this evening has been identified as Matthew Kyalo Mbobu, a Senior Partner at Kyalo & Associates Advocates, who was fatally shot while driving his Toyota Land Cruiser V8 along Karen South in Lang’ata, near the Galleria–Brookhouse roundabout.

The assailant, a boda boda rider, fired at close range before fleeing the scene. The attack bears similarities to the killing of former Kasipul Kabondo MP Charles Ong’ondo Were.

Mr. Mbobu previously served as Chairperson of the Political Parties Dispute Tribunal in the run-up to the 2022 General Election.
