The national government has started the construction of Kenya Power sub station in Malaba town Teso north to stabilize the supply of electricity in Teso North, Teso South, and Nambale Constituencies in Busia County.
Speaking during the launch, energy CS Opiyo Wandayi said the half a million shillings project will be completed during the 2025/2026 financial year, "The substation is poised to improve and stabilise the grid in the three constituencies which have had perennial power outages."
The project has been hailed by Busia County leaders led by governor Paul Otuoma, Teso north Mp Hon. Oku Kaunya, county assembly speaker Fred Odilo and mcas who accompanied the CS.
Apart from the sub station project, the CS also launched Last Mile Electricity Conectivity Project in Teso north and Butula where over one hundred houses were connected with power.
