THARAKA NITHI NURSES GO ON STRIKE INDEFINITELY, RESIDENTS URGED TO SEEK SERVICES ELSEWHERE

Nurses in Tharaka Nithi County have gone on strike until further notice, urging residents to seek medical services in hospitals outside the county.

The nurses say no nursing services will be available in public health facilities across the county, from dispensaries to Chuka County Referral Hospital.

Residents have therefore been advised to take patients requiring medical attention to hospitals outside Tharaka Nithi until the strike is resolved.

The civil servant salary increase will take effect on August 1, 2026, as officially confirmed by Public Service Cabinet Secretary Geoffrey Ruku. This broad financial adjustment covers both basic salaries and key allowances, including higher housing and commuter allowances.
