The Government has appointed Bartunen Rutto (pictured), as the Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Specialist for the National Youth Opportunities Towards Advancement (NYOTA) Project.
During a stakeholders’ sensitization program led by the Principal Secretary for ICT, Mr. John Tanui, Bartunen Rutto introduced himself in his new role as the M&E Specialist.
NYOTA is a five-year flagship initiative of His Excellency President William Ruto, jointly funded by the World Bank and the Government of Kenya. The program is designed to empower youth through employment creation, increased earnings, and the promotion of a savings culture.
The project aims to impact 800,000 vulnerable youth aged 18 to 29 years across all 47 counties, including 10,000 refugees and 10,000 vulnerable host community members. The beneficiaries include young individuals with little or no formal education, who are unemployed, underemployed, or engaged in low-paying jobs. For Persons with Disabilities (PWDs), the upper age limit is extended to 35 years.
The program will reach Kenyan nationals in all counties, as well as refugees and host community youth in Garissa, Turkana, and Wajir counties.
The NYOTA Project seeks to enhance employment outcomes and expand savings opportunities for the targeted youth. It is founded on the principle that improved employment outcomes are achieved through the creation of more jobs, better-paying and secure jobs, and inclusive opportunities for disadvantaged youth.
