John D. Rockfeller (July 8, 1839–May 23, 1937), the founder of Standard Oil, was once the richest man in the world. He was the world’s first billionaire.

"He amassed a net worth of at least $1 billion in 1916. When Rockefeller died in 1937, his net worth was estimated to be approximately $340 billion in today's dollars."

By the age of 25, he had one of the largest oil refineries in the United States. He was 31 when he became the world's largest oil refiner. At 38, he controlled 90% of the oil refined in the United States. At fifty, John was America's richest man. As a young man, every action, attitude, and connection was crafted to establish his wealth.

But at the age of 53, he fell unwell. His entire body became wracked with pain, and he lost all his hair. In total anguish, the world's lone millionaire could buy anything he wanted but could only eat soup and crackers.

According to an associate, "He couldn't sleep, wouldn't smile, and nothing in life meant anything to him". His personal, highly trained physicians indicated that he would die within the year. That year passed painfully slowly. As he approached death, he awoke one morning with the faint understanding that he would not be able to bring any of his fortune with him to the next world.

The man who could dominate the commercial world suddenly realised he had no control over his personal life. He informed his solicitors, accountants, and management that he intended to devote his assets to hospitals, research, and charity work. John D. Rockefeller started his foundation.

The Rockefeller Foundation financed Howard Florey and his colleague Norman Heatley's penicillin research in 1941. But arguably the most astounding aspect of Rockefeller's narrative is that when he began to give back a fraction of all he had gained, his body's chemistry changed dramatically, and he recovered.

He was expected to die at the age of 53, but he survived to reach 98 years old. Rockefeller learnt gratitude and returned the great bulk of his money. This made him whole. It's one thing to be healed. It is another to become fit. He was a devout Baptist who attended the Euclid Avenue Baptist Church in Cleveland, Ohio.

Before he died, he wrote in his diary: "God taught me that everything belongs to Him, and I am merely a conduit to carry out His will. My life has been one long, happy holiday since then; full of work and play, I let go of my worries along the road, and God was wonderful to me every day.

Good morning Gen-Z's.

Open your eyes. All this started with the One Man One Shilling One vote clarion call. Limuru Three, then Reject Finance Bill 2024 & now Zakayo shuka.

I have a feeling that the proponents of Limuru Three want to copy and paste from Sudan but they will not succeed.

1. I have a feeling that the proponents of Limuru three want president William Ruto to resign like Sudan’s Omar El-Bashir who resigned after months of protests, and a prolonged sit-in in Khartoum.
2. I don't know if Raila Odinga and his supporters will join in but all I what I know is that we in KANU cannot join or support insurgency. This is purely a Limuru three affair.
3. Power is sweet and nobody wants to leave power. Mohamed El-Bashir was removed in a similar way. The Tigray Elite in Ethiopia could not believe power had slipped away and tried to do the same but Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed is too smart for them. This is purely a Mt Kenya affair and they will not succeed.
4. Former Sudanese President Omar El-Bashir was forced out of power and I strongly feel that this is the script being used by the Limuru three proponents, disguised as a “bread protest” against a rise in inflation. Sudanese people took to the streets calling for the downfall of the El-Bashir regime, that's exactly the script the Limuru three proponents are reading from but unfortunately this will not succeed in Kenya. Here they started by the reject the finance bill clarion call which has turned to be Zakayo shuka.
5. The generation leading the uprising was born and raised during El-Bashir’s 30-year rule. The protesters were mostly young professionals who were directly affected by the regime’s Islamisation and Arabisation policies. Here they are using the GEN-Z's.
6. El-Bashir responded to the protests in three ways. First, El-Bashir tried to quickly reconsolidate his power by proposing constitutional changes. That was quickly taken off the table. He then declared a year-long nationwide state of emergency. The emergency state prohibited “unauthorized” gatherings and movements. Violence followed as the state deployed heavy-handed tactics to break up the protests.
7. El-Bashir also dissolved federal and state governments, replacing almost all of Sudan’s 18 state governors with army officers. And he ordered parliament to delay deliberations over proposed constitutional amendments. When the protests didn’t subside he called for broad-based dialogue. El-Bashir also reached out to those who had backed him financially on previous occasions. These included the Persian Gulf states as well as Egypt and Russia. However, these allies have done little more than offer him vague statements of support. He also began to lose the support of Western backers. By the time El-Bashir stepped down protests had taken hold in more than 35 cities across the country. People took to the streets in more and more places following the first demonstration in the northern Nile-side town of Atbara.
8. In a matter of weeks, the protest in Atbara would reach the capital Khartoum 349 kilometres away. As protests erupted across the country agents of the powerful National Intelligence and Security Service and riot police began to crack down on demonstrators. Throughout, however, the army refrained from intervening. Rumours began to surface that El-Bashir was ready to hand over power to the armed force. But this was swiftly rejected by the Minister of Information and government spokesman of the government, Hassan Ismail.
9. In the final days before El-Bashir stepped down thousands of demonstrators reached the ministry compound in Khartoum. This also houses El-Bashir’s residence, the secret service headquarters and the defence ministry. Protesters then upped the stakes by trying to gain support from the army. What began to emerge was that senior officers were possibly weakening, or that they were hoping to use the protests to pressure factions within the ruling elite.
10. Just like here in Kenya, protesters used a number of tactics to keep the momentum going. These included using social media such as Facebook, Twitter and WhatsApp. All evolved during the uprising despite the government’s attempts to block the user, and Virtual Private Networks were used to access the women’s only Facebook group called “Minbar Chat”. Here they are using Twitter space. Videos recorded by the protesters became important in documenting the coup and escalating the situation. All they wanted was force El-Bashir to resign and probably leave the country by agreeing to safe passage to a friendly state, possibly somewhere like Egypt, or Qatar.

I hope I have opened your eyes. Say no to to maandamano, your concerns were genuine & have been addressed. Do not fall into the trap. Your plight has been hijacked, you are being led down a dangerous path.

He caught her, removed the ring from her finger. He immediately woke up and started thanking God. Around 1:40 p.m., the money that had been held for a long time was released. He is the God I know, the God of war, the God of miracles. Many of you would have been so wealthy by now but because of ma********on, your wealth, luck and happiness have been given to the demons. You may have been married before but your feelings are gone due to ma********on. A MUST READ STORY

There was a hunter who went on a hunt. He began to run home when he saw a portion of the forest burning aggressively. In running home he saw a small vulnerable lion (cub) perhaps hastily left by its mother when fleeing from the fire. The hunter took it home to his sheep's pen.

The lion cub grew up, played and fed with the flock. The hunter usually open the flock to go and feed in a nearby bush. Sometimes a pup wolf will charge and intimidate the flock including the lion. Then they will usually run back home.

One day they went to feed on fresh grass.
As usual the lion growing healthier and strong , joined them. They dined on the best of grass and in ecstasy, they went far into the bush. Soon they heard a strange howling noise. The flock scattered and many began running for their lives. The lion frightened too much didn't know where to run to and stood still.

Soon a pup wolf approached the lion face to face. The lion had no choice but to fight back. It started to make a noise which it never knew it could. The roaring (noise) was so loud and frightened that the pup wolf took to its heels. Now the hunter has became the hunted. The lion chased it. From that day the lion didn't continue to stay with the flock. It went deep into the bush and was surprised that when the other animals see it, they flee!

Moral Lessons

Just like the lion which thought it self like a sheep, some of us are also the same. Limiting our potentials because of; where we were born or raised, our negative mind set, negative people around our lives etc. Am reminding you to awaken the lion in you. You are actually a lion, born great with the potential to overcome your adversities. Don't let your current struggles push you down and let people look down on you.

The struggles of today, may perhaps be a turning point to move to greatness (where you belong, just like the lion in the story). Yes you may be a lion among the flock, but it's time to wake up and move on.
