BREAKING | Auliyahan Ulama Endorse Shidiye for Garissa Governor 2027

NAIROBI, 20 AUGUST 2026— H.E. Ambassador Mohamed Mukhtar Shidiye, CBS, a prospective candidate for Governor of Garissa County in the 2027 General Election, held a major meeting this evening with Ulama from the Auliyahan community in Nairobi.

The meeting focused on strengthening community unity and building support for Ambassador Shidiye’s gubernatorial bid. The Ulama endorsed his candidature and pledged their support, describing him as a forthright and visionary leader capable of delivering meaningful change to Garissa County.

In his response, Ambassador Shidiye thanked the Ulama for their confidence and support, pledging to pursue meaningful development and work closely with religious leaders, particularly on matters concerning faith and community welfare.

Among those present were Hon. Mohamed Abdi Farah Abo, Super Majority Leader of the Garissa County Assembly; MCA Daadab Hon. Mahat; Hon. Garissa Women’s Representative Race Takes Shape as New Candidate Declares 2027 Bid

GARISSA, KENYA — The race for the Garissa County Women Representative seat has gained fresh momentum following the official declaration of a new candidate seeking to contest the position in the 2027 General Elections.

In her declaration, the candidate said she was stepping forward with humility, courage and a strong commitment to public service, promising to champion inclusive representation, women’s empowerment, youth opportunities and accountable leadership.

“The journey to 2027 begins today. I am officially in the race.”
Her entry adds another voice to what is expected to be a competitive contest, with voters likely to closely examine each candidate’s leadership record, policy agenda and ability to represent the interests of women, youth and vulnerable communities across Garissa County.
The campaign is expected to focus on building a broad grassroots network while engaging women’s groups, youth, professionals, community leaders and residents across the county.
Rather than relying solely on political rhetoric, the candidate’s campaign can distinguish itself by presenting a clear women-and-youth development agenda, maintaining a strong presence at the grassroots and consistently communicating measurable priorities.
