More than 200 youths graduated today from the Ebissa Youth Empowerment Programme, a digital skills initiated by Saku MP aspirant Abdikadir Doyo Wario (EBISA).

Speaking in Saku, Doyo said the program equips young people with essential skills in computer literacy, Microsoft Office, internet use, and a basic introduction to AI.
“Digital skills are no longer optional. They are key for education, jobs, and innovation,” he said

Since its launch, over 350 students have benefited, helping bridge the digital gap in Marsabit and neighboring counties.

Doyo added that youth education and infrastructure development remain central to his vision for Saku ahead of the 2027 elections.

Principal Secretary Kello Harsama, together with the Member of Parliament for Saku Constituency, distributed 100 camels in Jaldesa on Saturday as part of a government livestock restocking programme in Marsabit County.

The exercise follows efforts to replace livestock lost during the 2020–2022 drought. The government has so far distributed 400 camels across four constituencies in the county.

GOVT EXTENDS SECURITY ALERT IN HILLO GOLD MINES, MOYALE, FI****MS PROHIBITED

The government has extended the designation of Hillo Gold Mines in Dabel, Moyale as a security-disturbed and dangerous area for a further 30 days.

Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen, in a notice dated December 19, stated that the extension takes effect on December 23, 2025, from 6:30 p.m.

The directive may be withdrawn or extended further by notice in the Kenya Gazette depending on the security situation.

In line with the extension, Inspector-General of the National Police Service, Douglas Kanja, has prohibited residents in the area from possessing fi****ms.

Residents are required to immediately surrender any fi****ms to the nearest police station, police post, police camp, or National Government Administration Office during daylight hours for safe custody.

Authorities emphasized that all surrendered fi****ms will be returned to their lawful owners once the security alert is revoked or terminated.

One person died and seven others were injured in a Land Cruiser crash at the KBC area along the Marsabit–Moyale highway on Tuesday morning.

According to Marsabit Central Police Commander Beethoven Gachago, the driver lost control after a front tyre burst, causing the vehicle to veer off the road.

The injured victims were taken to Marsabit County Referral Hospital for treatment.

Marsabit Gabra community has decided to strengthen full unity following a key resolution reached during a two-day meeting that brought together nearly 80 elders from Isiolo, Saku, North Horr, Moyale, and Ethiopia.

The elders agreed that all Gabra clans will now move forward as one, emphasizing peace, cohesion, and collective strength as the community approaches the 2027 political season. They also noted that while not mandatory, the Gabra Council of Elders remains the respected and preferred path for any aspiring leader seeking guidance and blessings.

The unity decision was reinforced by leaders present, including North Horr MP Wario Guyo Adhe, former Marsabit gubernatorial aspirant Pius Yattani, and Golbo MCA Hon. Edin Adhi, who praised the elders for restoring harmony across the community.

PARLIAMENTARY COMMITTEE VISITS HILLO GOLD MINES TO PLAN SAFE REOPENING

The Administration and Internal Security Committee, led by Vice Chair Hon. (Rtd.) Col. Dido Rasso, visited the Hillo gold mines to assess security concerns and develop a plan for reopening the site safely.

Police officers on site requested an additional camp and two more police stations to strengthen security. The Committee noted broad agreement among local leaders, residents, and security personnel that the mines can reopen if proper safety measures are enforced.

The Committee emphasized the need for continuous community engagement, directing local administrators to strengthen awareness on mining rules and security protocols, while recommending a follow-up report after further consultations with stakeholders to guide safe reopening.
