Hon.Chachu Ganya has come out to strongly deny claims that he’s pulled out of the 2027 Marsabit governor race.

Speaking on Wednesday, Ganya dismissed the rumours as political noise meant to mislead the public.

“I haven’t stepped down. I haven’t changed my mind. I’m still in the race,” he said. “These rumours are coming from people who are clearly uncomfortable with my presence.”

Ganya, who represented North Horr for three terms, said his team is fully focused on the 2027 campaign and confirmed he’ll be running on a party that works with the current government. According to him, working closely with the national administration is the only way to bring real development to the county.

He criticised leaders pushing propaganda, saying it only diverts attention from issues that matter.

“People in Marsabit don’t care for petty politics. They want roads, water, jobs. That’s what we should be talking about,” he said.

To his supporters, Ganya had a brief message: “Ignore the noise. We’re just getting started.”

Isiolo Governor Abdi Ibrahim Hassan is set to officially launch a major water supply project in Modogashe, bringing clean, piped water to the area for the first time since independence.

The historic project, fully funded by the County Government under the 2024/2025 budget, marks the end of a six-decade water crisis that has long burdened residents. New water kiosks have been installed across the town, including Bullaa Juu, following the successful drilling of a borehole and installation of a long-distance pipeline into Modogashe.

This comes after years of water scarcity, where families were forced to buy water at high prices or walk long distances. The Governor’s administration says the initiative reflects a bold commitment to addressing water challenges in pastoralist regions.

Similar efforts are ongoing in Sericho, Cherab, Gubatu, and Biliqi, where additional boreholes and water infrastructure are easing pressure on existing sources.

The project highlight the county’s broader development agenda focused on dignity, access to services, and lasting solutions for Isiolo residents.

Isiolo Woman Representative Hon. Mumina Bonaya has called on the Departmental Committee on Education to address key concerns affecting teachers in Isiolo.

Speaking on the floor of the House this morning, she questioned why the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has failed to reclassify Isiolo Municipality under cluster 3 for house allowances, despite qualifying.

She also criticized the uniform hardship allowance policy, urging the government to adopt a graduated model that reflects the true severity of hardship in various regions.

"Mohamed Roba’s attempt to impeach Governor Abdi Ibrahim was driven by political interests — not substance. It was triggered by rumours linking former Governor Godana Doyo to Governor Abdi’s 2027 camp as a possible Senate candidate, a seat Roba himself is targeting. But Governor Abdi has never endorsed Doyo for any position. The allegations are unfounded and purely political."

"Clerk Boru Guracha served under Mohamed Roba for nearly three years. If there were genuine concerns about his conduct, why wasn’t he removed then? He hasn’t suddenly become unfit — this is purely political retaliation because he refused to support an unprocedural impeachment."

Roba's Political Witch-Hunt Exposed as Power Struggle Deepens in Isiolo

Isiolo County Assembly Speaker Hon. Abdullahi Banticha has accused Mohamed Roba of orchestrating a political witch-hunt disguised as leadership changes and impeachment efforts.

Banticha dismissed Roba’s latest attempt to restructure the County Assembly leadership, declaring:
“The so-called county assembly leadership changes by the embattled Speaker Roba are null and void.”

He further defended his position as the legitimate Speaker, confirming he has continued to discharge his duties — including receiving his official salary.
“I have already received my salary as the Assembly Speaker for the month of July, and I was also paid for five days in June,” he stated.

According to Banticha, Roba’s recent moves, including the failed impeachment attempt against Governor Abdi Ibrahim Hassan, are politically motivated and stem from personal frustrations over 2027 succession politics.

“This is not about governance. It’s about Roba fearing he’s been sidelined after rumours emerged that former Governor Godana Doyo could be aligned with Governor Abdi for the Senate seat — a position Roba wants. But Governor Abdi has never endorsed Doyo. All this is baseless and political,” said Banticha.

He also defended Clerk Boru Guracha, saying he was being targeted for refusing to support what he termed an illegal and unprocedural process.
“Guracha served under Roba for nearly three years. If there was misconduct, why didn’t he act then?” he posed.

The unfolding drama signals a deepening political rift in Isiolo, as competing factions jostle for control ahead of the 2027 elections.

Our Story

Baliti FM is a community radio station located in Isiolo town, about 285 Kilometres north of Nairobi city. Baliti FM broadcasts to a radius of 130 Kilometres in Isiolo County. The community radio broadcasts on 102.7 from Isiolo town.

It was established by the Foundation for Women Pastoralists (FOWOPA) in collaboration with the local community in 2012. Baliti is an Oromo word meaning “Umoja” in Swahili, and can translate to ours/together/togetherness. Baliti FM went on air on July 17th 2013. The community radio station is built on the concept of “Community Driven Development (CDD)”, a concept that places people central to development from the onset to implementation. Based on this concept of CDD, Baliti FM will be independent, non-commercial, not-for-profit, and volunteer-based radio station covering the Upper Easter region, an area that has faced the worst historical injustices in Kenya since independence. These are issues that are dire to humankind and at the heart of Baliti FM.
